TECHNICAL WRITER
 
Summary:
 
Responsible for creating technical documents and manuals to ensure accuracy of product descriptions.
 
Responsibilities:
Generate technical content for user guides, online user assistance, marketing white papers and service bulletins.
Use various software applications for authoring, including DITA tools like Heretto or oXygen.
Analyze the needs of the target audience.
Study data and software and conduct in-depth interviews with subject matter experts to understand the product or procedure.
Use interim software releases to gain experience with tools and verify documentation.
Edit, standardize, or revise material prepared by other writers or personnel.
Prepare rough drafts of the publication for review with the project staff and/or customers.
Requirements:
 
Education / Experience:
BA/BS in English, Technical Communication or a technical field especially Computer Science.
At least three (3) years of technical writing or editing experience for a global audience
Proficiency with scripting languages
Knowledge in DITA in a Content Component Management System
Other Requirements:
Fluency in reading, writing and speaking the English language
Knowledge in Japanese language is an advantage
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Able to manage multiple tasks, and organize and execute projects efficiently
