Position Summary:
This position administers the turnaround operations for Azamara in multiple geographical regions of the world. The role develops guest ports services & port operations at each assigned port, while managing turn around operations from planning stage to implementation, and ensures that guest targets and, financial targets applicable to the ports of call are achieved.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Develops and administers turn around programs, port operations and contingency planning in the relevant ports.
Produces detailed operational plans for turnaround ports including of departure procedures, boarding procedures, general port information, immigration & customs clearance, key contracts.
Ensures that terminal is staffed properly for turn around operations.
Manages the relationship with the ground handler and, port agencies.
Plans turn around operations with the ground handler collaborating closely with the frontline employees and, managers that operate the turn around.
Monitors performance of each turnaround using the reports of the shipboard leadership, guest Medallia ratings and, comments and, the feedback of the ground operator as quality control and, continuous improvement tools.
Maintains constant rapport with ground handlers as well as the shipboard leadership on turn-around operations and, issues.
Performs pre-planning and, operational set up for respective ports prior to the start of each season.
Travels to new & existing turn-around ports to conduct site inspections and oversee airport, terminal operations and port operations. Meets with ground handlers, port agents, vendors.
Assesses training needs and, plans training sessions with the ground handler to be used in each turn around port.
Direct interaction with shipboard leadership in planning turnaround operations via conference calls held prior to the season and, before each new or challenging port of call.
Performs special projects, analysis as requested.
Gathers data, reviews data and makes data driven decisions needed for making the best recommendations to improve overall service & GPS and, Port Operations efficiency.
Provides operational information to internal and, external stakeholders.
Reviews and, updates turn-around port information.
Works closely with the Manager, Guest Port Services on all aspects related to Guest Port Services and, Port Operations.
Interfaces closely with Marine Operations & Deployment about berthing arrangements, port & quay operations.
Participates in the preparation and, compilation of the annual operating & capital budget for Port Operations and, Guest Port Services.
Ensures that Guest Port Services and Port Operations in the relevant geographical areas operate within the set fiscal targets. Constantly explore cost efficiency opportunities in order to play an integral part in the organization's profitability.
Stands in for the Manager, Guest Port Services as required and, has full know-how of the issues that surround the region & port assignments.
As an integral member of the Azamara Hotel Operations team, actively contributes to various special projects and, other assignments and, performs any other duties as required.
Experience, knowledge, skills
This role requires a candidate with a hands-on attitude. This role requires a candidate that is flexible and open to extensive travel and, long days during visits to the port of call. The ability to build and maintain relationships, problem resolution and, adaptability to extreme, unusual circumstances is critical for this role.
A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a guest port services, port operations or cruise guest operations.
Full understanding of cruise guest port services and, operations.
Highly self- motivated with the ability to perform well under the pressures of a busy, demanding environment.
Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting.
Ability to read, analyze data and, make data driven decisions.
Strong communication skills. Ability to respond to common inquiries and, concerns from guests, regulatory agencies, members of the business community.
Strong working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and, the adaptability to learn organization specific software.
Ability to be on call 24/7 as operationally required and, work in weekend if needed. Last, unexpected travel may be required at times.
Ability to travel internationally to ports is at a minimum 25%.
