One of FactSet's key differentiators has always been the incorporation of a wide variety of 1st and 3rd party data into its products, giving our clients all the information and tools they need to perform complex analytics and make the right investment decisions. The exceptional level of tight integration and standardization across these data sets provides clients with a high performance and easily accessible content library. The Content Engineering team is responsible for building, maintaining and enhancing the databases and query APIs for these data sets, as well as the highly efficient and robust automated processes that Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) the latest updates in order to provide our clients with the latest information ahead of the competition.
To complement the engineering team we have in place, Content Support Engineersoversee and support these critical regular ETL processes from the extract of the data from its original source, through manipulation and value-add processing, to the publication to the live databases. Operators are responsible for responding to any unexpected failures in these processes and using a variety of proprietary and 3rd party tools to recover them as quickly as possible. They work with 1st and 3rd party vendors and internal stakeholders to help identify and resolve issues; communicating any resolution steps, investigation and client impact as appropriate. Additionally, they monitor and report on the general operational integrity of these systems and notify stakeholders of any concerning trends or events.
While this position is mostly operational in nature, an intermediate understanding of technology, finance or ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes will assist individuals in this role. Tools, workflows and training will be provided for individuals to use in this role. As Content Operators become proficient in these tools they will also contribute to the documentation and QA process of new features that are developed for our ETL toolset over time. Outstanding candidates will have the opportunity to further improve the overall process and provide input, ideas and documentation to help optimize our workflow.
Responsibilities:
Create & follow support and recovery documentation for automated workflows.
Interpret and support workflows created using proprietary FactSet tools.
Monitor automated mission critical processes.
Proactively communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders for process maintenance and troubleshooting.
Use command-line (e.g. ZIP, GREP) and file transfer utilities (e.g. FTP, SFTP/SCP/SSH).
Use file editor tools to investigate and correct common data-file format issues.
Document and test new features and enhancements to the Operator / ETL toolset.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
Open for Fresh graduates/Entry level applicants.
Excellent time and task management abilities.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
Business-level written and verbal English communication skills.
Experience interacting with clients / stakeholders / vendors / colleagues remotely via phone, email or IM.
Familiarity with (or strong interest in) any of the following concepts: scripting / programming, databases, data transfer, data manipulation, ETL processes, command line operating systems, finance / investing.
Willingness to work on a shifting schedule to help provide 24/5 support (shifts are Tuesday to Saturday from 6am - 3pm, 1pm - 10pm and 10pm - 6am; this could be expanded to cover 24/7 in the future).
