BASF also operates an agricultural research station in the country which conducts research, laboratory studies and field testing of novel technologies. In 2020, BASF posted sales to customers in the Philippines of approximately €76 million and employed 84 people as of the end of the year. Objectives of the Position:
To support the sales and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches, market development programs and demand creation activities in the crop protection markets.
To help ensure sustainability of the crop protection business by addressing current gaps in existing product portfolio, and positioning of new products.
To improve product demonstration and competencies of the commercial team.
Main Areas of Responsibilities:
Establish biological positioning of new products to be registered and marketed in the country by identifying the correct and effective product dose, and target crops and pests. This includes comparing the new products with competitor benchmark products.
Set up field testing in the representative areas prior to product launch.
Train the sales team and third-party promoters to ensure adequate technical knowhow of products prior to launch.
Lead post-launch process to determine the need for technical product re-positioning.
Build a network of key technical influencers in the industry and works closely with them to ensure support for BASF products in the market.
Work on key strategic crops taking into consideration market trends, farming practices and customer preferences. Identifies emerging issues and problems, and coordinates with marketing to develop the most appropriate solutions for our customers.
Develop new market niches or applications for the current BASF portfolio, which have potential to contribute to greater market share.
Develop the training materials for new products to include product presentations and application development for use by the sales team.
Train the third-party promoters to implement product demonstration trials according to plan.
Document product performance which can be used as reference materials by the sales and marketing.
Establish and maintain the product complaint and resolution process.
Minimum Education and Qualification Required:
With a Degree in Agriculture or related field, major in Plant Pathology an advantage.
With minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in product development and technical work, and 3 years relevant work experience in sales and marketing in crop protection industry.
Knowledge of crop physiology, crop protection products and application technology, product stewardship, and field biology indications (i.e., insecticide, fungicide, herbicide and seed treatment).
Knowledgeable of crop protection market: technical, commercial, plantation farming techniques, crop protection-specific issues, etc.
With strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Possess strong planning, project management and teaching skills.
Possess high level of energy and able to maintain stable performance under pressure.
With strong abilities in relationship building, interpersonal communication, and presentation.
Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and integrity at work.
Proactive, can excellently work individually and in teams.
