About IDS
IDS's Expeditionary Support Services business unit performs mission critical operations and maintenance functions, throughout the globe, often within austere and remote environments. IDS has over fifteen years of experience delivering quality services to government customers.
IDS is recruiting a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to deliver quality, cost-effective, operational support services for the U.S. military throughout the country of the Philippines. The SSHO provides direct oversight to prepare and enforce the safety program on this contract. Provide a Safety oversight team that includes a minimum of one Competent Person at each project site to function as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO). This position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities:
The SSHO shall be at a level equivalent to Staff Special Assistant or Department Head to maintain integrity and autonomy of the Safety Program.
The SSHO or an equally qualified Designated Representative/alternate shall be always on-site when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan.
Provide a Safety oversight team that includes a minimum of one Competent Person at each project site to function as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO).
The SSHO must meet the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.
Lead a technically diverse team of employees and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health Physics, Fire Prevention Engineering, or other related engineering and scientific fields, based on a four-year course of study from a U.S. or equivalent accredited college or university or equivalent institution.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past.
The SSHO shall have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent and an average of at least 24 hours of safety training per year within the last five years.
Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license, as well as a safe driving record.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is highly desirable.
Experience leading worksite safety programs in an international siting and understands multi-cultural safety perception.
Experience working with and understanding of US Government contracts and contract administration.
Computer Skills:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
