The Role: A world leader in the development and application of innovative technologies for the inspection, monitoring and management of physical infrastructure, Xylem seeks to hire Monitoring Specialists that will be responsible for supporting on-going remote site maintenance and optimization of our AFO acoustic monitoring sites.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Monitor the water distribution system health status (by attending to alarms raised by various distributed sensors) on a continuous basis and act when an abnormality is reported.
Respond to alarms, in a timely manner, by taking appropriate corrective actions and execute predefined procedures as required, including notifying customers.
Management of site optimization and system parameters, ensuring reliable and accurate data acquisition functionality
Perform remote analysis and troubleshooting of any site performance issues
Support maintenance on existing systems as required, and testing of new equipment after on-site installation
Review of pipeline drawings, inspection data and client lay schedules
Support various engineering operation needs in the design and installation of new monitoring sites
Regular communication of site functionality to project team
Client contact providing regular reports highlighting system functionality and uptime
Work either regular 8hrs shifts (5 days per week) or 12hrs shifts (3-4 days per week), and overtime if required.
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
Bachelor/College degree in in an engineering or technical discipline
Methodical and analytical with problem solving situations
Good judgement and interpretation skills
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adept to new standards
Excellent writing and communication skills in English
Proficient in Microsoft office and high level of computer literacy
Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
Organized and able to prioritize various tasks to meet deadlines
Experience with pipeline is an asset
Computer, networking and operating system knowledge and troubleshooting experience an asset
