A medical biller is in charge of calculating and collecting payments for medical procedures and services. Their work includes updating patient data, developing payment plans, and preparing invoices.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Check the initial status of claims online
Download Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) online and check for denied claims
Work assigned accounts receivable or denied claims accounts
Generate aging report and explanation about denied claims
Create charges and submit claims to the insurance company using athenahealth
Request authorization from the insurance company
Inform patients about coverages and recommendations
Create PR charges
Call the insurance company for further denial information
Submit appeals for denied claims
Familiarity with athenahealth EMR is preferred but not required
Background in medical or healthcare industry
At least 1 to 2 years of work experience as a Medical Biller
Ability to impact operations in a positive manner
Detail-oriented, analytical, and inquisitive
Ability to work alone and with others
Extremely organized
Has strong time management skills
Experience in software design and wireframe creation are an advantage
Basic WFH Equipment Requirements:
Laptop or desktop computer that can run web browsing, spreadsheet, and communication software
Intel i3 or AMD Ryzen 1300 processor (or equivalent)
4GB RAM
Stable internet connection (preferably at least 5Mbps)
Headset for video calls
