Context:
The position is located at the Online Communications Unit/MCD Manila (OCU), which is responsible for IOMs online communication strategies and manages the editorial content, development and design of IOM's external websites and social media channels. The unit is responsible for high-profile social media campaigns, and advocates globally for online communications and social media as outreach tools to engage with external audiences. It also handles the online Media Library and manages IOM's Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media accounts. It advises HQ and missions on IOM's online corporate visual identity and provides missions with appropriate web templates and graphic design services. The unit also develops, designs and supports specific relevant project related websites. In close coordination with MCD HQ, the unit also edits, processes and distributes the Media Briefing and other digital products.
Under the supervision of OCU ́s senior developer and the head of OCU, and in collaboration with the developer assigned to the project.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Implement specific deliverables required for the Drupal 8 platform Idiaspora, and provide rapid technical support to the editors of the site when required, while following MCD OCU guidance and standards in terms of development and good practices.
The work will be paid by hour/deliverable, upon agreement by both parts and must be located in the Western Hemisphere/Americas Time zones.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field preferably from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or
University Degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
Minimum two years of experience in developing Drupal websites (Drupal 8.x) and four years of experience in Drupal 7.x, using tools such as Drush, and able to create custom Drupal modules and themes;
Minimum four years of experience in web development using PHP web frameworks such as Laravel and Symphony. Strong understanding of best practices of PHP development;
Able to install, configure and secure application/web servers such as Apache and NGINX and database servers such as MySQL, using high availability configuration for CMS driven websites;
HTML, CSS, and Javascript expertise;
Understands Integration concepts (RESTful services, API development, etc.);
Familiarity in using version control systems such as GIT and SVN;
Knowledge in Linux OS will be an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish an advantage.
