The Tax Compliance Specialist supports the General Accounting and Tax Compliance Head in driving business performance by ensuring accurate tax accounting records, timely reporting of the company's revenues, expenditures, assets and liabilities to the appropriate government agencies (i.e. BIR, SEC, and local government units); warrants risks and exposures on taxes; handling BIR audit/findings and other inquiries, cascading latest BIR issuances affecting applicable to the Company and assisting in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of Finance Group.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1) Assures compliance with applicable tax law and regulations together with the Finance Team;
2) Performs the preparation, timely filing of all monthly / quarterly / annual tax returns along with required attachments and payment of taxes due to BIR;
3) Checks the completeness and accuracy of the amount of taxes to be reported/remitted to BIR by reconciling the tax amounts per books and validating the supporting documents (i.e., ORs and invoices);
4) Reviews and evaluates compliance to all tax-related transactions and processes;
5) Ensures completeness of files/ documents subject for reporting to BIR;
1) Prepares closing/month-end journal voucher for tax provision, deferred taxes and other adjustments necessary;
2) Maintains tracking / monitoring of tax compliance, filing and payment of all tax returns ; both National or Local taxes
3) Collaboration with Tax Team on BIR issuances (RRs, RMOs, RMCs & Advisories);
4) Prepares / compiles documentary requirements for submission to BIR, SEC & LGU's (e.g., registration updates, AFS, annual ITR, GFFS, GIS, Computerized Accounting System (CAS), etc.);
5) Performs internal assessments or possible tax exposures;
6) Handles BIR Letter of Authority (LOA); liaises with BIR Examiners, submission of required documents, reconciles BIR tax findings, drafts transmittal/responses to BIR Findings;
7) Attends BIR seminars/training. Cascades of tax information to employees and other departments by conducting finance awareness seminar in the office;
8) Assists in the annual financial audit of external auditors;
9) Provides responses to tax-related queries from other departments (e.g., AP Team, Procurement, etc.); and
10) Maintains orderly filing system
Other Qualifications:
Graduate of BS Accountancy
At least 2 to 4 years of experience in related field; with background in the Power Industry (preferred but not required), Strong knowledge of detailed financial data and analysis, national and local tax compliance, regulations and reporting; understanding of PFRS/PAS
Proficiency in MS Office, knowledge of SAPB1
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Detail-oriented, strong analytical skills, proactive attitude, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
