Job Description :
Purpose of the Role:
The Indirect Tax Team Leader (the "Team Leader") manages a team of VAT/Customs and Excise ("C&Ex") professionals (generally comprising more than 10 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) roles). Team Leader acts as a line manager for their team encompassing end-to-end people management responsibilities for the direct reports assigned to them;
Ensures that all in-scope statutory tax returns for their assigned markets are completed accurately, efficiently and on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly adhered to;
Ensures that the technical knowledge required for preparing the in-scope statutory indirect tax returns is available for the team and ensures that they have soft skills for performing the tasks assigned to them;
Pro-actively supports internal projects to facilitate the ongoing transformation and improvement of Diageo's Global Tax function (including providing relevant information, answering ad hoc requests and suggesting alternative ways of working);
Acts as a back-up for his/her Manager in relation to technical aspects;
Furthermore, ensures the development of the checklists and task notes based on which his/her team prepares the returns and is responsible for having them updated on a regular basis;
Acts as a coach and mentor for his/her team members both from a technical and people management perspective and supports return preparation process;
Is responsible for building a close relationship with key and senior stakeholders within Global Tax, in Diageo markets, other functional teams of GDBS shared services in Budapest and Bangalore as well as Tax authorities, external and internal advisors.
Qualifications:
University graduate of Accountancy, CPA preferred
Ideally minimum 3-4 years relevant Indirect Tax experience, and
People Manager experience;
Experience at an operational level with VAT and/or C&Ex, controls and risk management;
Experience with transitions and project management;
Experience in working with VAT/C&Ex Tool and/or VAT/C&Ex in SAP
Experience in working with markets that have highly complex legislation.
