We are looking for a Tax Accountant to join our client AU-based accounting firm client.
The role requires strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment. The role is expected to have regular and independent communication with management, peers in finance and other functions/business.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in the management of a portfolio of clients, including preparation of accounting, taxation and compliance work (Annual Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns) and reviewing work prepared by other team members
Prepare Business Activity Statements and accompanying workpapers for a variety of clients
Prepare management reports and tax planning reports for clients, including commentary and assist the Manager and Principal in the preparation of advice as needed
Prepare workpapers and reconciliations in relation to investments such as shares, ETF's, managed funds and crypto, including CGT calculations
Review of workpapers, analysis of client data and transactions and setting up accounts onto the Xero accounting package in accordance with the organization's standards
Perform and review compliance and value add work when required
Knowledge of tax office correspondence and procedures
Prepare other compliance related lodgement obligations including STP Finalization, FBT, TPAR
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant taxation and other relevant legislation and rulings through attendance of monthly Professional Development sessions
Assist with research and accurate interpretation of taxation and other relevant legislation and rulings for clients when required
Other duties as required
Requirements:
Candidate must possess a Bachelor degree in Commerce/Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA or CA
Minimum of 5 years experience working in a professional services environment as either directly for a Public Practice or in a BPO supporting Australian Accounting Firms
Strong understanding of the Corporations Act, relevant accounting standards, tax legislation and other research as they relate to the work undertaken
Extensive experience in preparing tax compliance work such as Business Activity Statements, Income Tax Returns, STP Finalization, FBT, TPAR Reports for a variety of small to medium businesses with Trust, Company, Partnerships and Individuals within their structure
Must have an experience with Xero, Xero tax papers, and Microsoft Excel
Knowledge in the preparation of Australian payroll is advantageous but not essential
Knowledge and experience in preparing electronic workpapers. Experience in using Xero workpapers will be highly regarded
Excellent use of Office and Google products
Exceptional attention to detail
Confidence to advise based on sound knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to people whereby English may not be their first language
Willingness to learn, adapt, show initiative and be a positive team player and leader
Excellent time management skills
Must be willing to work on AU shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM)
Must have a fast and stable internet connection for a temporary WFH arrangement
Must be willing to work onsite if needed (Our office is located at Eastwood, Quezon City)
