Job Description
The Software Engineer role is responsible for developing software solutions that facilitate the achievement of business targets. This role exhibits a combination of Level 3 and 4 capabilities from the
Development and implementation
Systems design
Designs system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology.
Software design
Uses appropriate modelling techniques following agreed software design standards, guidelines, patterns and methodology.
Programming/software development
Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services.
Systems and software life cycle engineering
Prepares design options for the working environment of methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and people.
Systems Integration and build
Provides technical expertise to enable the configuration of system components and equipment for systems testing.
Testing
Designs test cases, creates test scripts and test data, and automates repeatable tasks working to the requirements or specifications provided.
Data and analytics
Data modelling and design
Applies standard data modelling and design techniques based upon a detailed understanding of requirements.
Data engineering
Assist in developing and implementing data pipelines and data stores.
Database Design
Develops and maintains specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles, architectures, software and facilities.
Delivery and operation
System software
Monitors operational systems for resource usage and failure rates, to inform and facilitate system software tuning.
Application support
Carries out agreed applications maintenance tasks.
Software configuration
Designs, verifies, documents, amends and refactors complex software configurations for deployment.
Configuration management
Develops, configures and maintains tools (including automation) to identify, track, log and maintain accurate, complete and current information.
Release and deployment
Maintains and administers tools and methods for software delivery, deployment and configuration.
Strategy and architecture
Specialist advice
Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the application of their specialism to the organisation's planning and operations.
Methods and tools
Provides support on the use of existing methods and tools.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field is required.
3-5 years extensive experience in developing enterprise grade software applications
Adept in any of the software development framework but experience in Node.js and JavaEE is strongly preferred
Adept in working with developing, customizing and deploying applications built in open source PHP based CMS platforms - Wordpress
Adept in any of the mobile application development framework such as ionic (HTML5, CSS3, Javascript), React Native, Xamarin (C# base code), Flutter, Corona, jQuery, Mobile Angular
Adept in using IDE tools such as Visual Studio, Android Studio and xCode, Eclipse, NetBeans.
Working knowledge in process automation technologies like Google App Scripting, RPA (UiPath), Macro/VBA Scripting
Experience in working with low-code development platforms like Outsystems, Appian, Caspio, Zoho or similar technologies
Extensive experience in developing integration solutions using integration platforms such as Mulesoft, Boomi, WSO2 and/or Talend
Experience in building integration solutions between enterprise solutions like ERPs (Oracle/SAP), CRM (Salesforce)
Proficiency with writing automated tests in JUnit, Espresso, Mocha, Jest, Enzyme, XCTest
Proficiency developing and consuming RESTful APIs of varying data response formats
Experience with profiling and debugging software applications
Strong knowledge of architectural patterns-MVP, MVC, MVVM, and Clean Architecture-and the ability to choose the best solution for the application
Excellent command of database design and development concepts
Strong knowledge of source control management software and workflows
Understanding mobile app design guidelines on each platform and being aware of their differences
Proficiency in Java/Swift/Objective-C/JavaScript/C#
