PURPOSE
A Search Engine Optimization Specialist analyzes, reviews and implements changes to websites so they are optimized for search engines. This means maximizing the traffic to a site by improving page rank within search engines.
May implement testing of various search engine marketing techniques, web site layouts, and advertising for search engine optimization. Must also know the importance of internal links, and the ability to solve problems when trying to find the best locations and the best approach to internal links.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
*Review and analyze client sites for areas that need to be improved, deleted, or revised.
*Prepare detailed strategy reports.
*Identify the least expensive, but most powerful and profitable keywords for client sites.
*Run pay-per-click campaigns.
*Improve the company's organic search results.
*Write effective headlines, body copy, and websites.
*Ensure websites are filled with optimal keywords.
*Place keywords appropriately in copy, to gain most search engine traffic.
*Write effective call-to-action statements.
*Write original and powerful SEO content for blogs and websites.
*Implement off-page SEO content strategies such as coding.
*Effectively use header tags.
*Keep abreast on white hat and black hat tactics so as not to violate search engine guidelines.
*Strategize ways to improve and track site performance.
*Compile and present SEO performance reports.
*Adjust Pay Per Click campaigns as needed.
*Consult with independent web designers to improve the navigation of a site to enhance its search engine ranking.
*Utilize basic programming and web design skills to enhance SEO.
*Create advanced SEO strategies.
*Evaluate product offering, traffic, landing page quality, content, design, security, payment options, shipping options, demographics of prospective customers when determining keywords and campaigns
QUALIFICATIONS
*With genuine interest in SEO and/or digital marketing
*Has strong personal online profile, e.g. a blog, website or connections and interactions on various social media platforms
*Strong sense of commitment to keeping technical skills and knowledge up to date
*With an inquisitive mind driven to understand search engine algorithms and predict what changes might be coming
*Has the ability to understand social media platforms, and how to use them to distribute content, gain more links and build successful campaigns
*With good understanding of PR and how to get the right messages out
*Has understanding of how customers search, where they search and why they purchase something online
*Has a good understanding of the wider marketing context
*With strong analytical skills for understanding ranking algorithms
*Excellent communication skills to educate, inform, manipulate and mediate across a number of stakeholders in an organization
*With good understanding of, or experience of, HTML coding, and preferably Javascript and PHP (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor)
