ESCO has recently launched an AP and accounting group located in Manilla that is an extension of ESCO's Global Financial Shared Services team in the United States. The initial hires into the Manila team will be well positioned for advancement and cross functional training opportunities.
The Sr Accountant is responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger and the monthly accounting cycle. A thorough knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and an ability to administer all internal standards is required. This position ensures that accounting transactions are properly recorded, posted, processed, and reported to ensure accurate presentation of the balance sheet and income statement; responds to internal customer escalations and ensures compliance with internal financial and accounting controls; helps coordinate activities that support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, profit and loss statements; and monitors general ledger maintenance and monthly accounting processing activities to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
Job duties include:
Assist to migrate accounting processes from other region offshored to Manila.
Prepare and review reconciliations are prepared timely, accurately and in compliance with company guidelines.
Perform and review monthly close process to ensure books and records are accurately stated and all close procedures are completed.
Communicate process objectives, steps, and changes to ensure processes are performed in compliance with company close schedule.
Identify and analyze process errors and anomalies (e.g., coding errors, variance analysis, etc.) to ensure customers receive thorough and accurate replies for improving ineffective processes.
Respond to customer escalations and exceptions to research and resolve inquiries in a timely manner.
Working with global accounting and finance personal to assist regions
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required, Accounting required
Experience using Oracle in a professional capacity required
Requires working in morning shift schedule (6am - 3pm)
Must have at least 5 years' general ledger experience in a corporate accounting function
Certified Public Accountant preferred
Fixed Asset Experience preferred
Additional Required Skills & Abilities:
Able to help process the month-end close
Ability to record, prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations
Demonstrate broad business and accounting knowledge; describe generally accepted accounting practice (GAAP) methods
Ability to distinguish between "big picture" concepts and comments and specialized, smaller specific facts associated with work; note the specifics of events and experiences; explain, in general, how details impact end goals or outcomes; ensure that work is completed accurately and with the appropriate level of detail
Demonstrates an understanding of basic financial concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conduct financial analyses
Addresses and resolves issues impacting information systems reporting; look for ways to minimize close time and improve close process
