Role purpose:
The Senior Accountant is the overall responsible for the record to report activities of the assigned companies, ensures true and fair picture of the books. Acts as gatekeeper for record to report activities and during month end closing. Represents Grundfos Shared Services in the finance delivery model.
The Senior Accountant evaluates financial data, prepares financial reporting and relevant explanation of statements and differences
Responsibilities:
Operation
Leads the operation of accounting activities and ensures the timely fulfilment of all reporting requirements and compliance related requests according to Grundfos accounting principles, acts as gatekeeper
Understands all accounting activities performed in Financial Shared Services (FSS) for the entity. In case of problems follows up on the resolution
Performs critical tasks and communicates results to stakeholders to support the entity in the financial reporting process, asks the right questions related to unusual balance movements
Drives and controls Month End Closing (MEC) and Year End Closing (YEC), acts as single point of contact
Provides functional support for handling escalations and propose further actions if needed
Support stakeholders by providing information based on analysis of accounting
Supports audit in case of questions, represents the FSS activities related to the entity
Coordinate and supervise migration activities and enforce standard process splits are followed
Ensures that documentation is complete, up to date, in line with Finance Excellence and available
Aware of the risks and understands and maintains controls, ensures that IC controls are delivered as required
Responsible for evaluating Customer Performance Indicator-s/Key Performance Indicator-s and following up problems, and proposing necessary corrective actions
Assists in planning and implementing department goals and makes recommendations to management to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Stakeholder management
Operates one finance team and Finance Delivery Model, organises collaboration forums, supports for meeting documentation
Keeps contact with the affected stakeholders and key contact persons and ensures the proper information flow both ways
Ensures "no surprises" environment, informs partners about problems and changes
Effectively interact with stakeholders to raise awareness of issues encountered along with any actions taken to support resolution
Operational leadership
Accountable for the work of the team members
Allocates and prioritises tasks among team members to meet deadlines and quality standards
Takes responsibility over the quality of the books, by reviewing controls and reconciliations
Provides guidance in the Financial Services team(s)
Provide functional guidance, training and assistance to team members
Continuous improvement
Seeks for continuous improvement opportunities to enhance effective MEC, processes and increase the quality of service
Responsible for implementing process improvements or process standardizations
Enthusiastic involvement in the related projects
People development
Identifies skill gaps and gives input to line manager for individual development plans
Gives input into individual performance review (PDD)
Audit support
Supports audit processes during system/process audits (internal and external).
Requirements:
Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Accounting or any relevant courses or an equivalent work experience
At least 4-5 years proven relevant experience
Deep understanding of the accounting principles. Understand how accounting principles affect financial reporting.
Understand local/international accounting standards and integrate them into the internal controls and compliance processes
Ability to understand local/international corporate legal requirements and integrate them into the financial reporting where relevant.
Ability to use the following systems and understand the underlying data structures and flows at a sufficient level to fulfill the Job Role. Systems and applications such as SAP, BW/Analytic, TM1/Cognos, IBP, IPMA/PMA, and MS Excel
Ability to communicate in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
Possess efficient knowledge of best practices and relevant practices, systems in finance
"Can do" mentality, problem solving attitude, "no blame" culture
Owning the issues and tasks not just doing them
Accuracy and teamwork
Able to work against tight deadlines and service SLA's
Adhering to internal policies, deadlines, guidelines of operation
