WHAT IS A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - REINSURANCE AND CAPTIVE ACCOUNTING Our awesome client, a leading company based in the US is looking for a senior accountant to be part of their finance team. WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Scope and Dimensions of Job: Participates as member of the Finance team. Prepare Statutory statements for captive and cell companies Assists in all aspects of reinsurance business including: On-going tracking and quarterly booking of development Prepare captive and cell financial statements Initial technical accounting assessment and due diligence Assists in the monthly/quarterly booking of various reinsurance transactions. Assists in technical accounting matters for both GAAP and statutory accounting. Drives the implementation of a new reinsurance system and data analytics. Assists in the implementation of a statutory accounting ledger. Assists in the preparations, reporting and tie-out of GAAP and statutory financial statements. Assists with quarterly budget functions. Reimagines and optimizes processes continuously to ensure the most efficient and effective preparation of all items. Serves as back-up in all matters relating to AP, bank reconciliations, journal entries, banking and other areas as needed. Essential Functions of the Position: Performs all quarterly tasks related to development on all reinsurance books of business Prepare GAAP/Statutory statements for cell, captive and companies Assists with various technical accounting memos and assessments related to reinsurance and alternative investments. Assists with the selection and implementation of new reinsurance accounting system -including software research, requirements gathering and implementation with end user testing. Assists in quarterly/annual tie out process of the statutory statements as needed. Assists in quarterly/annual tie out process of the 10Q, 8K, Proxy and 10K as needed. Assist with external and internal audits by providing audit support, variance analysis, and resolving audit questions. Assists in quarterly budget functions including updating projections and documenting assumptions. Maintains a continuous improvement mindset and routinely updates processes for efficiency and effectiveness. Assist with Company's AP, bank and journal entry processes as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR Experience: 5+ years of experience in reinsurance and statutory accounting 5+ years technical accounting experience 5+ years experience in financial statement tie out and documentation 5+ years experience in financial planning and analysis Experience on system implementation and optimization Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance/business S. Certified Public Accounting (CPA) qualification or equivalent to the U.S. CPA supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience with systems automation and implementing software efficiencies into workflows Prior experience with Oracle R12, underwriting systems, data analytic software are preferred Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel Excellent prioritization, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills Motivated, self-starter with ability to work independently Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees Ability to multi-task Desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and to always uphold a high level of attention to detail An understanding of the need for a strong control environment Willingness to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
