Responsibilities & Duties:
​Manage the company's day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure that purchasing agents are meeting department performance standards
Propose improvements to the current purchasing process that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business
Collaborate with our sales, customer success and warehouse teams to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels throughout the year as needed
Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock
Qualifications:
​Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or other relevant academic disciplines
Purchasing Manager - 5 years or more years of experience providing the types and levels of knowledge, skills and abilities required in a purchasing role
Purchasing Specialist - 3 years or more years of experience providing the types and levels of knowledge, skills and abilities required in a purchasing role​
5+ years in purchasing management role
Experience in book selling/retail purchasing is a plus
Experience working with publishers of educational materials for schools is a plus
Experience in Purchasing plan development and implementation
Excellent communication and decision-making skills
Experience successfully managing multiple projects
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with Microsoft Office applications
