You will work on issues related to the Internet and Meta's mission of giving people the power to build community and bringing the world closer together. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Meta's policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers, NGOs, academia, industry associations, technology companies or other relevant organizations. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and the globe, engage with trade associations and third party groups. The successful applicant will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety, freedom of expression and growth of the digital economy. This position will be based in the Philippines and will report to the Head of Public Policy for the Philippines.
Public Policy Associate Manager, Philippines Responsibilities
Monitor Philippines for policy issues at the intersection of technology, social media and local developments impacting the growth of digital economy and society
Work with policymakers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private sector organizations on issues of digital economy, safety, privacy and other technology-relevant public policy concerns
Represent Meta in meetings and public events with policymakers, civil society groups and industry stakeholders
Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry proposals on Meta's services
Assist in the development and management of Meta's policies on particular issues or product areas
Support development and implementation of initiatives in Philippines that help deepen understanding of technology and technology policy with key stakeholders
Work with cross functional teams across product, legal, marketing and communications across the company to ensure that Meta products and programs are advancing external understanding around key policy issues
Respond to questions and consultations from external stakeholders on relevant policy issues
Build and manage creative partnerships with advocacy groups, academia and industry bodies
Minimum Qualifications
A social science / Public Policy degree with focus on Technology Policy is preferred
8-10 years of experience in related areas of public policy such as legislation and/or government relations and advocacy
Keen understanding of political systems and relevant policy and civil society institutions connected to the technology space as well as an understanding of the local context in the Philippines
Excellent judgment and analytical skills, excellent communication and persuasive skills, creativity, perspective and the ability to work in a dynamic environment
Experience in policy advocacy, analysis and/or program management for a multinational corporation or institution, experience in government or non-government organizations is a plus
Proven track record in driving and managing multiple projects, programs, and campaigns simultaneously
Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and creatively
Passion for connecting the unconnected, and experience with relevant policy issues, including e-commerce, digital economy, elections and politics, online safety, privacy, etc.
Fluency in both written and conversational English and Filipino is essential as because a successful candidate will be extensively liaising with local stakeholders in Philippines
