Description:
Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping AMEX maximize the purchasing power of third party spend. Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement (SS&BE) is GSM's face to AXP colleagues and suppliers. We provide strategic consultation, bringing global value perspective, negotiation, and delivery to maximize purchasing power of supplier spend and to free up investment capacity through deeper partnerships with our BUs. SS&BE is also responsible for managing our supplier strategy with our business partners, identifying, and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation, collaborating with Source to Contract team and ensuring an optimal user experience for AMEX colleagues and suppliers.
The Procurement Associate will be based in Philippines and will report into the SS&BE Market Lead ASEAN (based in Singapore) with a dotted line into the Director Category Management APAC (based in Australia) on ESG and Supplier Diversity Initiatives. The role will support strategic sourcing and category plans in commodities such as Marketing, Professional Services, Human Resources across APAC as well as support APAC ESG and Supplier Diversity initiatives at the guidance of in market SS&BE colleagues across APAC.
The role is required to collaborate with a team of remote-based resources across the region and globally daily.
Responsibilities:
Identify, collaborate, and execute on agreed sourcing and category plan strategies with Business Partners
Perform RFI, market analysis, total cost modelling, benchmarking and spend analysis
Support ESG and Supplier Diversity across APAC including the coordination of data, reporting, and metrics updates for APAC markets
Support SS&BE colleagues on ESG and Supplier Diversity initiatives across APAC markets
Support RFI/RFP/RFQ, supplier and negotiation process
Conduct meetings between Amex and suppliers in support of RFI/RFPs and ensure project timelines and deliverables are met
Track and provide regular reporting and updates to the relevant parties (including line management, regional/global GSM team and key stakeholders) on project status
Lead or participate in cross markets/regional initiatives as defined by GSM leadership
Lead sourcing activities across functional lines, markets, business units that have a major impact on American Express' expense, revenue, and profitability
Maintain and promote the AMEX Values by ensuring that work is completed to the highest professional, legal, and regulatory standards, and that the activities subject to review/procurement comply with the Company's stated business
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of three years of procurement experience (Preferably in a Financial Services environment)
Knowledge / Experience supporting APAC (Asia Pacific) region in terms of scope of work
Knowledge and Understanding of ESG and Supplier Diversity themes across APAC
Evidence of strong procurement experience, competitive intelligence, and capabilities across all categories
Operating knowledge of contract law, local/regional/global sourcing strategies, risk management, vendor due diligence, supplier development and complex negotiations skills
Ability to manage day to day business priorities along with long term strategic deliverables
Strong project management skills and financial experience including development of CBAs and financial models
Passion for using analytics to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve the customer experience, and drive bottom line results
Strong communication and influencing skills with evidence of consistently delivering cost savings and value-add opportunities
Ability to proactively drive internal stakeholder and external supplier relationships
Positive attitude, flexibility, inter-personal skills working across different cultures and ability to deal with working with a team located across APAC
Preferred Qualifications:
University Degree (A plus)
Experience with various eProcurement tools like Oracle, Ariba, Conga etc. (An advantage)
Language skills in Japanese and/or Mandarin (An advantage)
Prior experience in working independently or with a team of remote-based resources
