Job Description
Responsible for all aspects of General Ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting specializing on Fixed Assets operations and accounting. Collaborates closely with the Business Unit leadership and operational finance. Assists with tasks for consolidation, external Financial Reporting, and special projects. Provide leadership, and other staff with financial information and interpretations as needed.
Fixed Assets Monthly Closing Activities:
Monitor and review monthly closing & accounting activities performed by a pool of fixed asset accountants. These activities include ensuring that:
Completed assets are properly depreciated for both book and tax reporting purposes;
Complete, accurate and timely capitalization of borrowing costs; capitalization is made up to extent deemed recoverable;
Accurate and timely processing of requests for condemnations and related review and posting of entries for asset disposal/write-offs every month based on approved supporting documents as well as proper recognition of the correct gain/loss on disposal taking into account the amounts recoverable from insurance companies;
One-time assets (OTAs) are properly capitalized (vis-à-vis established capitalization thresholds); resulting real assets created contain complete and accurate information to facilitate subsequent accounting, reporting and monitoring requirements;
Regular and ad hoc fixed asset schedules/reports are reviewed and verified to be accurate, complete and are submitted within set deadlines.
Correct Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) set-up or reversal for the month.
Fixed Assets Reporting:
Detailed preparation/review of FA accounting schedules/reports such as:
PPE Fluctuation and Rollforward analysis Schedule;
Depreciation Analysis and related reports
Retirement/Disposal Schedules;
ARO reports
Regulatory Reports (on a Monthly/Quarterly/Annual basis);
and other FA Reports as maybe required by internal/external users/
Fixed Asset Register Maintenance:
Monitor and supervise updating and maintenance of asset records. These include, but not limited to:
Asset tagging;
Asset master completions;
Asset transfers and write-offs.
Does monthly review of regular fixed asset exception reports generated by FA accountant (i.e. incomplete assets, untagged assets, assets with dummy locations, cost centers and assets with balances which are below capitalization policy) and conceptualization and implementation of process improvements or corrective measures for exceptions related to fixed assets reporting, OTAs or corporate projects.
