The ideal Payroll Specialist should possess a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, and numerical proficiency. The primary responsibility of the Payroll Specialist is to ensure that all employees are paid correctly and on time.
Key responsibilities will include:
Accurately process payroll for all employees, including calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
Input and verify employee data, including new hires, terminations, changes in salary, and personal information updates.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations by accurately calculating and withholding taxes from employee paychecks.
Generate payroll reports for management, accounting, and auditing purposes, providing detailed summaries of payroll expenses, taxes, and other relevant metrics.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee earnings statements, tax forms, and benefit enrollment records.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
CA or CPA qualification (preferred)
Proven experience with Australian payroll processing systems and software (Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks)
Strong understanding of Australian payroll principles
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
