Background:
The Risk Management organization is an independent function within Citi, which partners with the business to actively manage market, credit, operational and franchise risk in a manner consistent with Citi's risk appetite. The Risk Management organization establishes the policies and guidelines for risk assessment and risk management, and ensures the appropriate controls and tools are in place to manage, measure and actively mitigate risks taken by the firm. The Office of the Asia Chief Risk Officer, which is based in Hong Kong, is responsible for managing the firm's risk across all businesses in the Region.
Portfolio and Control (P&C) Manila was previously under the Independent Risk Analysis Units (IRAU) Manila which commenced operations in April 2007 as a regional credit research and analysis center for the Institutional Clients Group within Citi. P&C was created to manage the internal and external reporting of IRAU Manila and the covered country portfolios in the APAC region. This entails everything from metrics to regulatory reporting for the country's Central Bank or portfolio analysis/presentations by the Country Risk Managers. In 2021, the Team was moved to the Portfolio Management team of the Asia CRO Office and continues to be based in Manila, Philippines.
Scope and Coverage include but not limited to:
Portfolio Analysis and Regulatory Reporting
Stress Testing
Regional controls such as extended annual reviews and risk rating process
Manager's Control Assessment (MCA) support
Regional and country specific Governance support
Principal Responsibilities:
Work closely with seniors and peers within the risk organization in managing credit portfolios and governance initiatives for relevant countries and APAC generally:
Provide data mining and portfolio analysis for the relevant countries/region. Responsibilities include managing global/regional/country portfolio stress testing exercises, coordinating country portfolio reviews, portfolio quality monitoring in relation to credit risks, regulatory risk, and the industry structure/landscape
To proactively identify and escalate key risks and material changes to the portfolio and effectively communicate and liaise with senior product / industry bankers and risk officers
Assist on requests related to the implementation of Basel III, ICAAP, IFRS 9 and similar regulatory-related initiatives/exercises
Support Country Risk Managers with internal/external periodic or ad-hoc regulatory reports and requests
Coordinate and assist with the preparation of standardized risk materials for the principal country governance committees
Support initiatives at the regional level and on behalf of countries in the APAC region
Qualifications:
Graduate of any Business-related courses, preferably Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting or Finance; OR similar work experience
Excellent Excel skills, preferably with VBA knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and a strong attention to detail
Proven ability to work independently and in a team
Good knowledge of credit risk and banking products
With at least 1 year of experience in credit research and analysis or portfolio management, preferably gained from Financial Institutions or Public Rating Agencies
Not required but would be an advantage: Post-graduate in Business, Finance or Accounting or FRM / CPA / CFA professional qualifications
