Description
Benguet State University (BSU) in the Philippines has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer to develop foreign language curricula and instructional materials attuned to international standards of teaching. BSU envisions to enhance the capacity of the faculty members and the language programs of the department in the graduate school and to assist faculty-researchers in developing and packaging strategic learning and training modules in language education skills that will build relevant opportunities for both faculty and students towards cross border mobility and internationalization of higher education. In order to do that, BSU needs technical support from a PCRV to review its existing graduate school language curricula, train faculty members and staff, and assist with qualitative research activities on language-related topics.
The Language Education Specialist will work closely with the dean and other members of the Department of Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences to facilitate international research collaboration in language/linguistics, mentor all the language teachers in the Department working on qualitative research and instructional materials and assist in developing and packaging strategic learning and training modules in language education. The Response Volunteer will also train the language teachers how to linguistically document the languages and culture in the Cordillera Administrative Region and act as resource person and assist the Department in the conduct of language and culture conference/workshop/activities. The main goal of the assignment is to build the capacity of university staff and assist the university to providing outstanding teaching and learning opportunities that emphasize intellectual development, knowledge, leadership, and skills.
Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in the Philippines together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
