Job description:The Language Annotation Specialist plays a key role in preparing and labeling textual and/or spoken language data for training and evaluating Natural Language Processing (NLP) models. This role requires a high level of accuracy, linguistic expertise, and cultural awareness to ensure reliable and consistent annotations. Flexibility is also essential, as projects may include not only language-focused tasks but also image annotation and evaluation. The specialist must be able to follow detailed guidelines, maintain quality under deadlines, and adapt quickly to evolving project requirements.Responsibilities
● Accurately annotate various types of language data (text, audio transcripts, and video subtitles) using specified tools and techniques.
● Apply linguistic knowledge to tasks such as part-of-speech tagging, named entity recognition,sentiment analysis, relationship extraction, intent classification, and discourse analysis.
● Perform image annotation and evaluation tasks when required, following project-specific guidelines.
● Follow detailed annotation standards to ensure accuracy and consistency across datasets.
● Identify and resolve ambiguities or inconsistencies, escalating issues when needed.
● Conduct quality checks on own work and peer annotations.
● Meet daily and weekly productivity targets while maintaining high quality.
● Collaborate with project managers and team members to clarify requirements and provide feedback on tools and processes.
● Stay updated with linguistic requirements, annotation standards, and evolving project guidelines.
● Use annotation software and platforms effectively.● Contribute to the continuous improvement of annotation processes and tools.
● Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when annotating language data.● Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, English, Journalism or a related field.
● Proven experience in language annotation, data labeling, or related work-preferably in NLP applications.
● Strong understanding of linguistic principles (syntax, semantics, pragmatics, morphology, etc.).
● Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy.
● Ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus and consistency.
● Ability to adapt quickly, shift focus between different data types (text, audio, image), and learn new processes efficiently
● Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Familiarity with annotation tools, data labeling techniques, and evaluation methods.
● Proficiency in web-based platforms and computer applications.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
