Job Description
The IT Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting information technology systems and infrastructure in the oil and gas industry. They play a crucial role in project management, construction management, commissioning management, and operation by ensuring the availability, security, and efficiency of IT systems.
 
Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Collaborate with project teams to define IT requirements and develop IT project plans.
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure IT infrastructure and systems are aligned with project objectives.
Manage IT procurement processes, including vendor selection and contract negotiations.
Oversee the installation and configuration of IT hardware and software systems.
Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate security measures for project-related IT systems.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for project-related IT issues.
Ensure compliance with IT standards, policies, and industry best practices.
Construction Management:
Manage and oversee IT infrastructure installations during construction projects.
Review IT drawings, specifications, and procedures to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to coordinate IT-related activities.
Conduct inspections and quality control checks on IT installations.
Ensure proper cabling, network connectivity, and power supply for IT systems.
Troubleshoot IT-related issues and provide technical guidance during construction.
Commissioning Management:
Develop commissioning plans and procedures for IT systems.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of IT systems during commissioning.
Conduct functional testing and verification of IT infrastructure and software applications.
Resolve commissioning issues related to IT systems and ensure proper documentation.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity measures and data protection protocols.
Provide training and support to end-users on IT systems and applications.
Operation:
Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and security of IT systems in operational environments.
Perform routine system maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and backups.
Respond to IT-related incidents and service requests, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.
Conduct proactive monitoring and performance tuning of IT systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT requirements for operational activities.
Maintain and update IT documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and user manuals.
Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance IT capabilities.
Requirements:
 
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), etc., are preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience as an IT Specialist or in a similar role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, systems, and cybersecurity practices.
Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory, and network infrastructure.
Experience with enterprise-level hardware and software deployments.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and practices.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
