Description
Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) in the Philippines has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to work with their Office of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA). TAU is strategically committed to advance its portfolio of global partnerships through the development of sustainable and mutually beneficial alliances with academic institutions, government agencies and private industries that share common aims and interests. These alliances bring many benefits to staff and students alike, and extend and enhance the University's international reach and reputation. ELIA serves as the institution's frontline arm in the University's thrust to expand horizons on partnership development, increase its consortia or organizational memberships, and advance its internationalization and global engagement.
At present, the University has existing academic linkages and has started with its inbound and outbound international faculty and student exchange programs. Conducting these internationalization activities requires a larger budget, thus the activities are limited. Moreover, inherent in the delivery of quality education is the presence of highly qualified faculty which requires capability development and training as well as collaborative research.
The PCRV will work with the staff of the TAU Office of External Linkages and International Affairs to further its partnership development activities and strengthen its resource generation initiatives. By the end of the assignment, the PCRV will have introduced curriculum enhancement strategies; worked with staff in the development of project proposals for funding; worked with staff in the implementation of mobility/ exchange programs and international capability programs; link TAU with international institutions; and provide recommendations for the sustainability of the linkage development and internationalization program of the university.
Please note that departure dates and other details of this project could change because of the uncertainties as Peace Corps and local partners resume volunteer operations. Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in the Philippines together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
