As a Senior Tax accountant at AvePoint, Inc. you will be a fully engaged team member on various tax projects, including US federal taxes (provision and final tax return calculations), US state taxes (income, franchise, sales and use, property taxes and state tax controversy), and some payroll items.
Provision work will include assistance with quarterly and year-end tax provision processes, i.e.,
- Preparing quarterly and year-end reporting packages including tax expense, current provision, deferred rollforward and tax disclosures; and
- Reconcile separate company tax accounts and prepare tax entries as needed.
Other US Tax Work will include:
- Preparing tax workpapers for the federal and state compliance; including state apportionment,
- Reviewing state sales tax returns; and helping track nexus issues
- Assistance with state notices
- Preparing property tax returns
- Preparing 1099s
You will continue to deepen your tax technical skills; through detailed tax research and you will develop leadership skills via creative problem solving.
This is a new staff position to support US federal and state income tax provision and compliance. The Senior Tax accountant will work with transaction accounting teams and service providers to prepare tax filings and perform account reconciliations. The Senior Tax accountant will be a key driver of tax process automation and efficiency projects.
Day to Day Responsibilities will also include:
Coordinating subsidiary and consolidated tax data with in-house accounting team and outside advisors
Assisting with various tax consulting projects including research and writing projects related to tax planning, restructuring, due diligence, audit defense, and accounting for income taxes.
Performing detailed review of estimated payment and withholding calculations and related filings
Answering US state tax notices
Qualifications Required:
5-7 years' experience in US and International income tax (IAS 12 and/or ASC 740 a plus)
Preparation and review experience of US federal tax return and state income and franchise tax returns
Experience with tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis (forecasting a plus)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
CPA certification if qualified to sit for the CPA; Chartered Accountant certification (or in the process of obtaining)
Excellent English research and writing skills
Excellent English presentation and communications skills
Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax a plus
