General Accounting Specialist 1
Provide Due Diligence and Accounting Support for the smooth integration of acquisitions to Emerson. Prepare the Emerson Climate Technologies Consolidated Financial Statements. Ensure that the financial statements adhere to US GAAP, supported by audit documentation, and internal control testing.
Job Responsibilities
1. US GAAP to international Financial Reporting Standards reporting transition
2. U.S review of Foreign Local GAAP reconciliation - new audit requirement
3. Lease accounting reporting changes - new GAAP requirement
4. Financial statement standardization - consistency in definition and EMR classification by all existing entities and acquisitions. Acquisitions also require training and continuing assistance in EMR accounting requirements - overhead absorption, deferred variation, excess and obsolete and tax stream
5. Foreign balance sheet reviews - new EMR requirement
6. Legacy and acquisition account mapping to HFM / Oracle reporting
7. Hyperion (HFM) autoload project
8. EX100 mapping in general ledger reports
9. Financial hedging activities - Euro, Peso, Baht, RMB
10. Eliminate worldwide in transit inventory by matching intercompany payable to intercompany receivable
11. Oracle month end closing process
12. Functional currency evaluation for each foreign acquisition and periodic review of existing operations
13. Warranty logic testing and monitoring for electronics
14. Balance sheet other asset and liability detail and descriptions
15. Growing internal/external audit support
16. Separate EMR reporting package for each acquisition
17. Quarterly restructuring reporting and guidance
18. Extended warranty programs - separate analysis required for each specific agreement
19. Expanded cash flow statement reporting by entity
20. Transaction/transaction gain/loss allocation to balance sheet
21. Accounting for Customer inventory agreements (Carrier, Thermoking)
22. Expanded participation in Internal control site reviews
23. Quarterly Tax Stream Reporting - all current and deferred tax accounts by entity (Currently Annual)
24. Bank account administration to include annual reporting and certification of global users and access rights
25. Financial statement XV Accrual and Allowance Roll Forward schedule
Job Requirements
Educational Background:
Candidate must possess at least a degree in Finance, Accountancy or Business Administration
Work Experience:
At least two (2) years' experience in handling financial reports
Reconciliation experience is required
Skills:
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Knowledgeable in MS Office application particularly in Excel
Ability to make independent decisions based on good judgment
Ability to resolve problems efficiently and reliably
