About the Role
As a Frontend Shopify Developer, you will be responsible for creating Shopify websites from scratch and building their functionalities. You will troubleshoot and optimise Shopify stores for various clients and proactively coordinate with the team.
Key Responsibilities
Minor customisations and theme updates to clients' Shopify store themes.
Set up new Shopify stores from the Shopify template theme.
Performance and site speed assessments of clients' stores with the solution of how performance can be optimised.
Store migrations from WordPress to Shopify, Magento to Shopify (potentially other platforms).
Product page tweaks and feature development.
Use metafield data to populate and improve client Shopify stores.
Troubleshoot code if not acting the way it should.
Code check - review clients' theme code and remove any unnecessary and redundant code.
Trial and test various Shopify themes.
Compare versions to determine what custom code has been made to a website.
Custom functionality development.
Support the client's website and improve UX.
Scope project and provide accurate estimates for the implementation of features/functionality requests.
Guided by common web standards and development methodologies to improve efficiency and productivity.
Research and recommend new technology to enhance user experience.
Position Prerequisites
Experience & Software
Proficient with HTML, CSS/SCSS, Shopify Liquid, and JavaScript.
At least two years of work experience in web development with a minimum of one year dedicated to Shopify.
Experience with WordPress is advantageous, it is not mandatory for this position.
Skills
Ability to implement well-written code that is commented.
Strong time management skills - estimating work, and meeting deadlines.
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, able to communicate development concepts in non-technical ways.
Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate challenges and issues.
Nice to Have
Loyalty Lion (SDK) and other loyalty programs.
Shopify integration with POS Systems.
Familiarity with performance optimisation tools such as Lighthouse and Shopify's Theme Inspector.
Understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
Understanding of current UX/UI trends and best practices.
Understanding of SEO and relationship with development.
Interest in Shopify Plus development.
