The Role
Join us as a Clinical qPCR Field Applications Scientist/Field Service Engineer for our GSG (Genetic Sciences Group) and assist us in our mission to become the world leader in serving science. This dynamic hybrid position involves providing scientific training, application & hardware support and troubleshooting. At the center are our Applied Biosystems RT-PCR instruments and a wide range of reagents.
This is a field-based role and is primarily responsible for providing application support to our Genetic Sciences customers, with a focus on our Humanitarian Aid Organization (HAO) supporting customers like (WHO / UNICEF). The incumbent will also be called upon to be perform field repairs too. The role will be based in Philippines, and it covers a portfolio within South-East Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
We will support the customer in-person at their lab, and by phone and email, serving as a trusted advisor. In doing so, we will help to increase customer satisfaction and build loyalty and chip in to the overall success of the business.
Deliver on-site and remote scientific application support & training to our customers on our products
Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts by performing product demonstrations, training, and giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products
Diagnose & resolve product performance problems and customer queries/complaints
Build trust with our customers and excel in customer service
Remain up to date with product and groundbreaking scientific know-how and work in line with our Support & Service Competencies
May be required to support other portfolios as required or assigned
How will you get here?
Education
Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar (Masters or PhD preferred)
Experience
At least 3 years molecular biology laboratory experience, preferably in clinical setting.
Extensive experience in Real-Time PCR - principle, workflow, hardware knowledge and troubleshooting. Experience in Applied Biosystems / Life Technologies Real-Time PCR instrumentation and Software is plus
Experience in automated nucleic acid purification.
Understanding of:
a. Assay Design, Optimization and Validation
b. Sample Preparation
c. Instrument Operation and Troubleshooting
d. Software and Data Analysis
Previous experience in a clinical lab environment, with knowledge of regulatory compliance (eg, CAP, ISO13485) is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Customer-facing experience, with the emotional intelligence to understand customer concerns
Able to connect with and support people optimally with varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise
Ability to work flexibly and deliver within tight timelines to clinical customers is a must.
Aptitude for problem solving
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Good Project management skills
Ability to manage multiple urgent priorities
Proficient in English
Willingness to travel internationally up to 50% frequency per month.
Good computer and/or IT skills
