Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic and commercially pragmatic legal and regulatory advice to
business and other stakeholders with respect to all aspects of travel and related services (e.g. call centers), corporate governance and maintaining international operations. * Participate in cross line of business initiatives/practice groups as a subject matter expert on laws and regulations impacting travel and related services, as well as day to day operations of company locally.
Provide transactional advice to the Chase Travel business and others with respect to structuring, negotiation and risk mitigation strategies with respect to Chase Travel contracts.
Collaborate with other legal teams and functional partners to ensure appropriate awareness and escalation of issues as they arise.
Identify and communicate regulatory trends and developments and advise business management on the impact to the Firm's operations in the Philippines.
Draft, review and negotiate contracts for services procured by the local entity and for Chase Travel contracts as applicable.
Provide legal support for regulatory filings, exams and internal audits.
Work with outside counsel and business partners in specified non-U.S. and non-Philippine jurisdictions in which the Firm operates its travel business to ensure compliance with local requirements and timely and accurate completion of regulatory filings..
Manage external counsel as instructed to support a particular project (as much of the work is done in-house as possible).
Some travel, as required, e.g. to support significant in-person meetings and maintain visibility with business clients.
Qualifications: In addition to the requisite legal credentials and experience, candidates should possess:
At least five years post-admission experience in a law firm or in-house with either on point experience and/or translatable skills to this role.
The confidence to be outspoken when necessary coupled with good communication skills
A proven ability to comfortably operate in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
A good sense of humor and the ability to stay calm when the pressure is on
Attorney must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that country.
Ideal Candidates Would Possess:
Subject matter expertise about the travel industry and related laws and regulations, as well as laws and regulations touching on international business operations, including exportation of services to foreign countries like the US, or a proven track record in quickly developing subject matter expertise in a new area of law
The perseverance and patience necessary to work through ambiguity and see a matter through to completion
The ability to see past the immediate question and understand the broader implications and wider strategy
The ability to think tactically to get to the best result for all parties
