POSITION TITLE: Communication and Technical Officer
PROJECT: Building Safe Agricultural Enterprises (B-SAFE)
REPORTS TO: Deputy Chief of Party
DUTY LOCATION: Quezon City
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communication and Technical Officer is responsible for the over-all planning, development and dissemination of communication materials for the Building Safe Agricultural Food Enterprises (B-SAFE) Project and the provision of technical support for implementation and documentation of project progress and success. The Officer will collaborate with the project's technical staff in developing effective information materials for events and capacity development activities, documenting project experiences through case studies, news articles, success stories, and facilitating the dissemination of these materials to stakeholders, partners, and donors through appropriate media.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Oversees and coordinates all communication activities for the project and contributes to the development and implementation of a project communication strategy.
Develops content for newsletters, success stories, infographics, and audio-visual materials to inform and educate stakeholders of B-SAFE's work.
Provides technical support on the implementation of field activities including organization of Annual Private Sector Forum, Investment Forum and other events for technical implementation of the project
Packages technical information/output that are required for submission to USDA and other stakeholders
Ensures the timely release of communication materials including event press releases and maintains all web-based communication portals.
Spearheads the documentation of best practices through case studies and other formats for dissemination and possible adoption by other stakeholders
Provides writing, copy editing, and communications support for technical staff, particularly in the preparation of regular reports to USDA, ensuring that the design and layout of the reports effectively communicates its content to all the recipients.
Supports activities and events for education and awareness-building, including webinars and potential speaking engagements for COP, Technical Advisors, and other technical staff.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides support to the Capacity Development Officer in packaging training materials to ensure that these are well-presented and easily understood by the participants.
Collaborates with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager in the preparation of case studies based on results of monitoring and evaluation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Communication Research, Journalism or a closely related field
Minimum 3 years' experience in implementing communication activities; experience working in an agriculture-related/development project will be preferred.
Experience working on USG funded projects, experience with USDA projects preferred.
Experience working with Government Agencies and Private Sector.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements:
Demonstrated experience with mass media and communication and development of online content
Experience of working with technical experts to harness knowledge and expertise to support learning, collaboration and problem solving.
Good understanding of different communication channels and platforms and the style and type of content needed to reach different target audiences
Strong writing and proofreading skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to present complex information in a simple, creative and visually engaging way.
Ability to work as part of a team and have good interpersonal communication skills.
Good Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Excellent written and spoken English skills.
Willing and able to travel throughout the Philippines.
