The Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk Management Function (CCOR) plays the vital role of challenging the firm's business controls infrastructure for completeness (e.g. against regulatory requirements) and adequacy (e.g. in terms of strength and performance).
The CCOR Monitoring and Testing (M&T) Team is responsible for independent evaluation of businesses/relevant functions' compliance with laws and regulations, as well as internal policies, standards, and procedures, to identify heightened Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk and/or control deficiencies which require remediation.
Responsibilities:
Be part of the CCOR M&T team in Manila that is aligned to the APAC region, for timely and effective supervision and execution of the CCOR M&T program. The team's coverage includes all APAC Lines of Businesses/Functions, including Corporate Investment Bank, Corporate Treasury, Chief Investment Office, Asset and Wealth Management, and GFCC-related risks;
Working closely with Line of Business CCOR Officers to ensure up to date and comprehensive understanding of businesses, and develop relevant test plans and scopes;
Working with Line of Business Compliance, Business Control Managers, Operational Risk Management, and Technology partners to develop and perform control design assessment and operating effectiveness testing of controls and processes that mitigate risks, assessing adherence to applicable regulations, legal obligations, and business requirements;
Driving the use of data in order to innovate and optimise current M&T practices;
Execution of M&T activities, as well as performing some supervisory work;
Determining the root cause for control issues identified and working with stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate corrective actions;
Writing test reports that effectively communicate testing objectives, processes, methodologies, and results to senior management, business control managers, and other relevant functions;
Execution and review of the issue remediation validation work performed by the team to assess that action plans were closed appropriately, the enhanced controls are sustainable and address the risk identified;
Work with Second Line of Defense Advisory teams/Subject Matter Experts to ensure up to date and comprehensive understanding of business areas;
Coordinate with other Compliance M&T teams globally and assist in ad hoc projects as necessary;
Working hours will be generally be aligned to APAC time, with candidate expected to flex hours depending on business requirements.
Key skills / Qualifications:
Educated to degree level
Minimum 8 years relevant experience in Compliance Monitoring and Testing, Audit, Operational Risk or equivalent experience within financial services industry;
Knowledge of investment banking/asset management/wealth management banking activities/financial crime compliance;
Experience in supervising other staff;
Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal;
Strong analytical and investigative skills;
Controls mindset with an attitude of credible challenge and professional skepticism;
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously;
Ability to work independently, with good time management skills and a proactive attitude towards accomplishing tasks to deadlines;
Ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate in team projects and initiatives;
Experience working with complex data sets and environments, drawing conclusions and reporting findings
Experience working with any or all of the following: Alteryx, SQL, R, Python, Qlikview, Tableau, Business Objects, and proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
