Your Team responsibilities -
Our Subscription revenue represents the largest revenue stream at MSCI, at $1.5B+ for fiscal year 2021. This role provides leadership opportunity for the candidate to be responsible for managing broad aspects of the financial and management accounting, transformation, analytics, and reporting, driving for changes and elevated processes related to subscription revenues. This position will provide operational accounting, reporting, and forecasting support to the Business and Sales teams, as well as provide accounting guidance for revenue recognition and reporting matters pertaining to customer contract arrangements. The successful candidate will also lead or support special projects as they arise, including M&A activity, process improvement initiatives, system implementations and developing processes to account for new revenue contracts. This will be a highly visible role and will have tremendous opportunity to work with a diverse set of finance and non-finance stakeholders, including exposure to finance executive leadership.

Your key responsibilities -
Partner with product finance directors to review accounting and reporting implications of new or complex contracts with customers, providing guidance on revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
Collaborate closely with key business partners, for example, Business Finance Directors, Legal, Sales, Billing, Tax, and Center of Excellence (COE), on policies, processes, and strategy to deliver critical business initiatives
Lead, influence, and mentor the subscription revenue team members with responsibility of the accuracy and completeness of revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP to achieve expected outcomes
Oversee aspects of revenue accounting and reporting operations, which includes execution of monthly revenue close, variance analysis, and reporting related to customer contracts
Partner with COE team to analyse and report key revenue metrics and results, including implementing and enhancing revenue accounting policies and procedures
Manage and streamline the subscription revenue accounting processes to improve clarity, efficiency and scale for growth
Manage operations of internal controls, policies and procedures related to revenue recognition, monthly close and reporting processes
Support annual audits performed by internal audit, external audit and SOX teams
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to participate in special projects, system implementations, enhancements and ad hoc analysis
Your skills and experience that will help you excel -
Minimum 12 years of experience and college or university degree in Accounting or Finance related field
Experience in managing teams with an emphasis in people management and team development
Public accounting (Chartered Accountant or Certified Public accountant or equivalent is a plus) and/or industry accounting experience with multi-national public companies which comply with U.S. GAAP or IFRS
Ability to identify complex and judgmental matters and discuss proposed solutions with pros and cons to immediate manager
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Hungarian and English
Ability to articulate complex concepts in clear, simple, and logical terms
Enjoy collaboration and have desire to work effectively with diverse cultures in a global organization and team player who is willingness to undertake opportunities in order to support team members and improve overall effectiveness of the function
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint and prior experience with large ERP systems, such as SAP
