Data Center Technical Architect Manager
The Data Center Technical Architecture function is responsible for defining the evolution of JTI Data Center technical infrastructure, including servers, storage & backup, operating systems and databases, disaster recovery and high availability solutions, tailored for a global centralized organization, 24x7 operations, in the most cost efficient and strategic manner.
As the Database Technical Architect Manager you will design, deliver and optimize technical infrastructure solutions to support various applications running in Global Data Center and other Data Centers (Market / Factories / Origins), with primary focus on database and related technologies. This role requires development and maintenance of a close partnership with the internal IT organization, in particular with the DC Service Delivery and Technical Integration functions, as well as related services providers.
What will you do?
1) Datacenter Technical Architecture (with primary focus on database and related technologies):
Understand business needs and requirements to translate them into adequate, standard and integrated infrastructure components, ensuring overall integration and consistency of the infrastructure (database (SAP, Siebel, etc.), storage, servers, disaster recovery and high availability)
Continuously re-assess the existing infrastructure; proactively identify risks, issues or critical factors that might impact the business
Data Center solutions design review and validation: sizing, performance, scalability, reliability and availability
Provide technical strategic directions to management regarding selection, design and TCO analysis of datacenter infrastructure solutions
2) Disaster protection and recovery:
Ensure that the appropriate level of service fault tolerance is implemented, as defined by and agreed with application owners
Ensure that backup technologies, strategies and procedures are implemented to allow recovery in line with business requirements
3) New products / technologies evaluation:
Evaluate the potential business impact of new information technology products and services and make recommendations to IT management regarding suitable implementation via agreed or new strategies
Manage their implementation
Stay abreast of evolving technology and keeps management aware of new trends and technology and how it could be incorporated as part of the global technical architecture strategy
4) Standards:
Define and validate worldwide-base technology standards for database related technologies, as well as High Availability / Disaster Recovery solutions, together with DCO
5) Change management and operations
Validate and approve technical changes
Manage projects in relevant scope and coordinate with other teams as necessary
Lead technical aspects of projects implementation. Ensure that related infrastructure costs are correctly identified and budgeted
Participate in the development and implementation of Service Level Agreements with data center infrastructure users and partners to ensure an appropriate level of Service availabilit
6) Technology Vendor Relationship:
Interface with key vendors, sustain relationships
7) Support for operational teams:
In case of complex and high priority issues provide expertise to operational teams in performance analysis, troubleshooting and optimization for database platforms
Guide and support database teams related to technical operations
Manage dedicated Siebel DBAs as well as external consultants
Who are we looking for:
University degree or equivalent, preferably in the IT area
Minimum 5 years designing and managing business critical systems, including enterprise database solutions based on Microsoft SQL Server
Solid IT technical background (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert or equivalent work experience)
Specific technologies: Database (Microsoft); Microsoft operating systems; virtualization
Systems management and operations; high availability and disaster recovery; storage management; programming basics
Large scale project and change management
Experience working in an outsourced environment is a plus
Fluent English
