Job Title: Tax Supervisor (CA/US)
Work Setup & Schedule:
Hybrid (Mon-Fri, 4PM to 1AM)
What you'll be doing:
Coordinating a team of tax specialists and tax managers who are responsible for the preparation and review of U.S. corporate, personal, partnership and trust tax returns which often involve cross-border situations, and directly handling a portion of these reviews.
Ensuring that the compliance process is thoughtfully planned, budgeted and executed.
Designing tax plans for corporate reorganizations, M&A transactions and estate planning in domestic and cross-border context.
Structuring Canadian residents' business expansions and real estate investments in the U.S.
Advising clients on various complex U.S. tax issues and questions on U.S. tax filing requirements
Mentoring, supervising, and training members of the tax team
Building on technical competence by keeping up to date on tax developments in the U.S. and applying them in practical situations
Building and maintaining client relations
Playing a key role in business development by identifying opportunities and meeting with potential new clients
Playing a leadership role in the tax group by actively contributing to the development and execution of the firm's business plan
What will make you a great fit:
'Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a major in Accounting
U.S. CPA or Canadian CPA designation would be an asset, but not mandatory
Relevant work experience in a public accounting firm, an asset
Three (3) to Five (5) years experience in U.S. tax compliance
Ability to work within a varying work schedule and within required budgets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English, French would be an asset)
Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Experience with Thomson Reuters GoSystems and CaseWare, an asset
