This role will be under Pathfinders Technical Services, the Engineering arm of the RISE Group.
Duties and responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy infrastructure code, system installations in accordance to our quality standards
Perform preventive maintenance, improvements, and refactoring of infrastructure code and installed systems
Investigate and create proofs of concepts, such as using external services and APIs
Maintain network performance, ensure security and connectivity, and test for weaknesses
Monitor and resolve problems in our system design and operations, and help our Network Operations Team with related support tickets
Continuously analyze, research, and make recommendations in improving server system performance
Support in systems and network changes when needed, including spearheading the procurement and completion of requirements in collaboration with internal teams
Support in updating network and systems procedures and assist in facilitating changes
Responsible for information management and data repositories
Development of tools to support the network and systems infrastructure
Qualifications
With at least the equivalent of 3 years work experience, in a Linux environment for operating large software systems in production (at least 20 nodes)
Knowledgeable about "infrastructure as code" concepts and experienced in creating deployments using code as opposed to manual configurations. Ansible experience preferred.
Experience being responsible in responding to incidents in production, problem management, and change management
Experience and expertise in the following is an advantage:
Using a system provisioning framework (Puppet, Chef, Ansible),
Scripting (Bash, PERL, Python, Ruby) to automate operational tasks in production
Hardware virtualization (Xen, KVM, Proxmox), and system containers (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
Common Internet protocols (HTTP, DNS, SMTP, etc.) and usage of networking software (Apache, Postfix, BIND, Dnsmasq, OpenSSH, OpenVPN, curl)
Shell usage (awk, sed, grep, etc.) of Linux-based systems (CentOS, Ubuntu) * With strong communication skills, openness to new ideas, resourceful, and eager to continuously learn
