Job Description
Balsam International is looking for a Software QA Engineer who will be responsible for implementing and developing test automation infrastructure of the Quality Assurance team, being involved in test automation development, applying coding standards and best practices for test automation, maintaining the test scripts that the team will use, and executing performance, load, or stress testing.
What you'll be doing:
Test Automation
Automates manual test scripts using Cucumber for Java.
Conducts code reviews on pull requests by teammates.
Maintains and updates automated test scripts.
Maintains test data being used by automated test cases.
Test Case Execution
Executes test cases and or scripts, including thorough regression tests, and white or black box testing of new and existing functionalities.
Raises defects with detailed information and replication steps, including screenshots or recordings as proof.
Works closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Developers, Business Analysts) to produce more accurate test results.
Test Documentation
Reviews business requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical designs to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
Collaborates with teammates during mind mapping sessions.
Writes and documents BDD test cases.
Software Quality Assurance Exercise & Agile Methodologies Practice
Collaborates with teammates to establish internal processes and best practices for Software Quality Assurance.
Participates in agile ceremonies, such as scrum meetings, sprint planning, project retrospectives, and provide personal input and feedback.
Attends in production or live deployments and monitor deployment status after performing sanity testing.
Creates a recording of user documentation of configurable components or any related functionalities for business users or as needed.
Collaborates remotely with cross-functional teams in the United States, Philippines, and India.
Automation Environment Maintenance & Coding Standards and Best Practices Implementation
Maintains and oversees the status of the test environments along its test data.
Establishes coding standards when automating tests using Cucumber for Java.
Implements best practices for test automation and sharing it with the team.
Performance, Load, or Stress Testing
Run non-functional required tests like Performance testing.
Gather data and metrics based on the performance testing results.
Analyze and discuss areas that could be used or done to improve overall site performance.
Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other relevant courses.
Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience Software QA Engineer or other similar roles.
Experience in Automation testing using Selenium framework.
Experience in Performance testing.
Experience in using REST Assured.
Nice to have:
Knowledge and use of Cucumber for Java is a plus.
Location: Our corporate offices are based in Northern California with a Regional Operating Headquarters (ROHQ) in the Philippines. Company executives visit the Philippines regularly, so team members attend in-person meetings from time to time. The Software QA Engineer position is a remote working position for Balsam International Unlimited Philippine ROHQ in Manila. Team members in the Philippines are located within Metro Manila, Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Rizal, and Tarlac areas only.
Our must-haves:
Must be willing to attend occasional in-person meetings depending on the status of the pandemic. For 2022, all in-person gatherings in Balsam are suspended until further notice. The safety of our team members is of utmost importance.
Must have a back-up laptop or desktop for use if primary laptop encounters issues.
Must have a fast, reliable DSL, Fiber, or Broadband connection (not mobile or broadband stick) as the primary internet connection with a minimum actual speed of 10MBPS.
Must have a back-up internet connection of the same speed, if primary connection becomes spotty.
Note: An online assessment will also be part of the recruitment process.
Status: This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits.
