The Tech Lead for Innovation's main mission is to develop, adopt, and/or implement innovative technologies, products, and tools that will drive growth to StraightArrow.
He or she will be supporting the Head of Innovation to realize the vision of the team by applying technical expertise for innovative uses of new technologies or tools to ideate, solve tech processes, and cultivate ideas into projects to improve and make more efficient StraightArrow's client operations and its proprietary products.
The Tech Lead will appropriate, conceptualise, and develop the technologies that arenecessary to drive breakthroughs in StraightArrow's efforts on research and development.
As a subject matter expert for web technology, he or she will be in-charge in all the technology-related concerns, skills, partnership, and resource requirements of the department.
The INNOV Tech Lead will have these accountabilities:
1. Define the INNOV vision
Identify, understand, and articulate innovative and novel technology trends that can be applied to StraightArrow's proprietary products and operations processes.
Present these ideas during ideation, solution design, and project development
Promote, teach, and explain the use and implementation of technology hardware and/or software to relevant stakeholders.
2. Connect vision with reality
Structure projects that include either the adaptation of existing hardware or software or creation and development of needed tech innovations to design new and efficient solutions to a variety of operational or proprietary product challenges.
Participate in defining project scope, goals, resources, and deliverables for technology-based projects in collaboration with key stakeholders
Collaborate with relevant teams and stakeholders in operations to build the skills and manpower needed to:
Develop and strategise the most scalable and robust way in implementing technological developments;
Set progress for the actual building and implementation of projects.
3. Lead and manage the development
Lead technical developer for StraightArrow proprietary products and client operations process development
Project manage the development of proprietary StraightArrow technologies
Collaborate with external providers on the adaptation and, where appropriate, demonstrate the application of these proprietary technologies among clients or peer institutions.
Manage the cradle-to-grave development milestones i.e. prototyping, MVP (Minimum Viable Product) development, beta testing, launch-ready version, continuous improvement, and maintenance of each proprietary solutions
4. Evangelize Tech Innovation
Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with external partners whocan provide ITC resources (design, adaptation, implementation, support) for Innovation projects
Source outstanding technology project managers, software developmentand UX specialists, and ICT implementation experts to staff innovation projects
5. Explore new technological developments
Conduct regular insightful technological monitoring/exploration within StraightArrow's client operations, aiming to identify new technologies or approaches we could integrate in our client base's existing processes to ensure that we are providing value to their operations.
6. Build a community of innovative and empowered web developers in StraightArrow
Share key experiences - create an opportunity to share key experiences, relevant info, learning experiences.
Foster Sustaining Innovations - Discover new technology that could be applied in your teams that can promote sustainable innovations in the account
Must have at least 5 years experience as a subject matter expert in web development/creative technology, digital marketing, creative design, or business analytics.
Must have at least 3 years experience with leading and managing a team.
Must have at least 3 years experience and exposure with operations.
Experience in working with highly cross-functional team of marketing, product,brand, and business leaders to bring ideas to life with his/her creative execution and expertise
A diverse, robust portfolio featuring examples of collaborative and self-initiated projects in own specialization and in training, process engineering and analytics
Deep knowledge in the following skills:
Fullstack Web Development (i.e. HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, SQL),
LAMP technology stack,
PHP framework (preferably Laravel),
Rest API Development and integration
Wordpress Plugin and Theme Development
Must be up-to-date with current trends in own specialization and must be able to coordinate with subject matter experts on trends in digital marketing, creative design, analytics and creative technologies
Must be up-to-date in learning and training best practices from research, execution to evaluation and reporting
A knack for research, strategic brainstorming and creative execution
Proven experience overseeing ideas from inception to launch
Experience with managing client escalations, operational issues and employee discipline is a plus
Skilled in both training, mentoring and coaching team members
Can work remotely Mon-Fri on a 9am-6pm schedule, and has stable internet connection.
