Zeald hosts websites and other services for our thousands of clients, and we have hundreds of AWS cloud instances that we manage to provide these services. We are in the midst of transforming our systems to use more DevOps and AWS best practices. We are looking for a person with deep linux systems administration, fault-finding and cloud experience
You will likely be working with our team of other remote devops engineers - triaging and fixing issues in linux-based systems, writing scripts and tools and configuration management using Cfengine and Ansible, documenting systems but also offering system design suggestions to other members of the team, and reviewing their pull requests.
You will have significant input into the architecture of Zeald's network - being provided with functional specifications and being expected to research and design solutions, proactively propose improvements, and take full responsibility for the reliability and performance of the solutions Zeald provides to its customers.
Technologies, environment & approaches
* AWS cloud and technologies such as EC2, ELB, CDN, S3, VPC
* Scripting in Bash (and other languages if you know them)
* Configuration management software : Ansible, Cfengine
* Webservers and web hosting in PHP and using our internally developed software
* DNS servers, domain name management, email hosting
* Backup, disaster recovery
* Automated testing / CICD
Key Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years experience
* Advanced Proficiency with Linux systems administration, fault finding
* A good understanding of internet technologies such as DNS and domain names, email, HTTP, networking
* Familiarity with Github & associated source control concepts
* Not critical to the role, but experience with PHP-based web applications, eg Wordpress, Laravel etc is an advantage
* Can work with minimum supervision and high accuracy work output
* You must provide your own modern computer and mobile phone
* Stable internet connection at home is a MUST
This is a full-time role and the usual work hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. We offer a competitive salary, free health care, and great perks such as paid two weeks off during the Christmas and New Year period.
