JOB SUMMARY (summarize the overall responsibility of this position)
The API Developer is responsible for the development, maintenance, testing, and support of various API's across the different platforms of DAVI. The function will also serve as the primary contact for the Technical team during the life of the API products developed by the business. The Developer will also need excellent communication skills with end users, department members, and management in order to understand business requirements and gain access to the proper technology systems.
ROLE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (list the main functions and duties of this position)
· Responsible for keeping the API Gateway running, monitoring its operation, managing any settings, deploying configurations, and performing any troubleshooting.
· Analyzes, designs, develops, codes and implements API programs in one or more programming languages, for Web and Mobile Applications.
· Virtualizes APIs and develops policies for APIs developed by the Technology team
· Supports applications with an understanding of system integration, test planning, scripting, and troubleshooting.
· Assesses the health and performance of API programs in relation to the applications and databases.
· Establishes, participates, and maintains relationships with business units, customers and subject matter experts in order to remain apprised of direction, project status, architectural and technology trends, risks, and functional/integration issues.
· Defines specifications and develop programs, modifies existing programs, prepares test data, and prepares functional specifications.
· Analyzes program and application performance using various programming languages, tools and techniques.
· Provides guidance to non-technical resources in using the API platform and maintaining API policies that make the software and hardware systems most effective and efficient.
· Reviews project proposals, evaluates alternatives, provides estimates and makes recommendations in relation to the API solution, it's design and architecture.
· Identifies potential process improvement areas and suggests options and recommends approaches.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required Educational Background
(State minimum educational / academic requirement and specific course requirement for the position)
· A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Information Systems or equivalent work experience
· - 4+ years of experience as Java/J2EE developer
· Technical expertise in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of mobile software and web-based applications.
· Experience with design and development of REST API applications using integration platforms (Azure APIM. MuleSoft, Kong, WSO2) converting web services from SOAP to REST or vice-versa.
· Strong coding skills in a number of different languages (ie. .Net, Swift, Flutter, Ruby, Java, JavaScript and Node.js)
· Strong knowledge of UI development (JSP, HTML, CSS, Ajax, XML)
· Proficient with the Azure cloud computing services
· Proficient and hands-on with Application Servers
· Expert knowledge of data management and information security
· Good knowledge of relational databases (ie. MS SQL, SAP HANA), data warehousing platforms (ie. Azure Synapse, ADLS), and data analytics platforms.
· Experience with scrum and agile project management methodologies.
