Department Overview The DBA team is part of the Application and Infrastructure Support division in Hedgeserv, providing 24/7 support for all Application DB systems. We are a growing team of 10 experienced DBAs located in 4 offices around the globe. We collaborate with Systems Administration, Monitoring, and Development teams to diagnose and troubleshoot production issues, develop tools that proactively identify database issues, collect appropriate trending data for performance analysis, and plan and communicate rollouts of new software versions. Job Description We seek a NoSQL Data Architect to work with development and other engineering teams to build and implement best practices for our MongoDB and other cloud database platforms. The right candidate has worked with automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform to achieve consistency across numerous clusters and platform deployments. Key Responsibilities: Design the database architecture for numerous applications using MongoDB Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that can improve the database architecture Develop and enforce data security and access controls Work with development teams to ensure that applications are designed to be scalable and high-performing Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans Design database schema and data models Optimize database performance and ensure scalability Implement and maintain data security and access controls Provide support for production and nonproduction database environments on-premises and in the cloud Job Requirements for the role: Proficiency in MongoDB Administration, Design, and Architecture Query performance tuning Automation - Terraform, Ansible, AWS, Packer Conversion from RDBMS to MongoDB Mongo document design architecture best practices Working with command-level tools Open to working on other DB platforms Familiarity with Code Versioning Tools (e.g., Git, AWS) Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field Experience: 5+ years working with NoSQL MongoDB Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for managing MongoDB deployments and enhancing scalability Worked in a fast-paced environment leveraging the Agile framework Nice to have: Erwin Data modeling and architecture RDBMS knowledge, Snowflake, PostgreSQL Agile Development environment.
