Job Description:
Analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems by applying knowledge of computer science principles in order to implement and improve DoD/IC computer systems and networks. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. May analyze or recommend commercially-available software. Responsible for developing project plans, guidelines, and controls. May act as team or project leader, supervising and advising with respect to the work of other computer specialists, scientists, or technicians.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Operation and maintenance (O&M) support of all CDS systems
Installation, configuration and system hardening of Unix/Linux operating systems
Installation and configuration of GOTS and COTS software components
Integration support with other systems, enterprise services and components
Functional software configuration development to support customer and/or security requirements
Required Qualifications:
12 years relevant IT experience
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience relevant to above referenced duties and responsibilities. Of those eight years, at least four (4) years of experience performing in the following areas:
Operating and maintaining CDS systems
Installing, configuring and hardening Unix/Linux operating systems
Installing and configuring GOTS and COTS software components
Integrating other systems, enterprise services and components
Developing software configuration solutions to support customer and/or security requirements for installation, configuration, and other functions on DoD/IC communication systems or networks
At least one (1) year of the foregoing four (4) years total experience shall have been as a team leader or supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
At least one (1) current professional-level technical certification (excludes intro or associate levels). Applicable vendors/areas include:
Cisco
Microsoft
Oracle
IBM
Red Hat Linux
Programming certifications, such as:
C / C++ Professional Programmer
Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) App Builder
Education Requirements:
Bachelors degree
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, Standing, Walking, Climbing, Grasping, Reaching, Near Acuity, Color Determination, Speaking, Listening, Sight, Use of Hands/Fingers, Lifting/Pushing/Pulling 50 lbs
Subject to variety of physical conditions, including proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals
Exposure to environmental conditions: job requires employee to perform in outside environments exposed to cold/wind/heat/humidity
Travel potentially 5% of the time
