Primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to support the Team Leader in executing and delivering KPI's based on Service Level Agreement (SLA) for the transactional accounting and end-to-end financial reporting preparation.
In this role, you will:
Management of existing clients
Ensuring assigned clients are serviced in accordance with agreed deliverables and deadlines
Primary point of contact for various issues, including but not limited to process, IT issues, reporting requirements, other issues, etc.
Overseeing the work of junior team members on the clients/portfolio assigned
Adherence, implementation and/or creation, as required, of the standard operating procedures
Delivery of accounting and financial reporting functions - ensuring reports and numbers are accurate, relevant, and complete:
trust bank account movements to broking system transactions
general bank accounts properly reconciled
month-end journals complete and posted timely
completion of month-end working papers
substantiate monthly balance sheet accounts
completion of monthly management reports
completion of monthly IAS, quarterly BAS and monthly payroll tax
completion of Income tax return & FBT
AFSL financial compliance (RG166 & FS70/71)
completion of budgets and forecasts as per Head Office timeline
coordination of year-end financial statements preparation and audit requirements
preparation and calculation of dividend
Other functions as per agreed timeline/schedule
Client take on
Work with the new client to take on agreed accounting and financial reporting services
Understand current processes, propose changes as necessary with the aim to move towards standardized workflow and processes. Provide support to assist clients with the necessary change management within their business
Perform due diligence and resolve any issues given current Trial Balance (TB)
Ensure transition timeline is met, prioritise activities, escalate issues to relevant people, etc.
Ensure client engagement, cooperation and expectations managed early on and throughout the take- on
As appropriate, coordinate and work with various SBS team leads to transition task and functions to the appropriate team, including but not limited to, agreeing on transition timelines, setup/onboarding activities, access requirements, etc.
If required, handover primary client contact appropriately
Process Improvements and Documentation, Projects and Change Management Support:
Suggest refinements to existing processes for each area of service offered eg. trust account/bank reconciliation, month end accounts, AFSL financial compliance, budgets, etc. to ensure efficient, timely and accurate process delivery
Prepares and/or updates all necessary documentation, eg. checklists, templates, process maps and manuals/procedures, etc. for all functions in accordance with the agreed scope of services
Assist with transitioning and onboarding new entities to relevant systems
Support manager to conduct training and knowledge transfer to new staff on systems and processes in accordance with agreed procedures, templates and workflows
assist with implementing new service offerings/initiatives to clients
assist with broker hubbing - merging of businesses
Proactively engage, deliver, execute and implement various agreed standardisation, centralisation and continuous improvement projects\

Full hands-on day-to-day role, responsibility will include reviewing work of more junior staff and offshore team
CA/CPA qualified a must; competence in Australian tax laws & regulations, business consolidations and experience with Australian payroll functions will be an advantage
Ability to communicate at all levels in a multiple stakeholder environment - liaison with clients, external service providers and other relevant divisions or entities within Steadfast Group
Excellent interpersonal skills and time management skills
Highly motivated and honest, flexible, pro-active and driven, ability to multi-task, able to work with minimum supervision and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment
Analytical and accurate, organized and structured, detail oriented and critical problem-solving skills are must-haves
Ability to train and motivate peers and other team mates
Experience in researching and analysing ad-hoc issues, legislative requirements and changes, keeping policy and operating procedures up-to-date, checklists, templates, and other relevant documents
Continuous process improvement mindset and pro-activeness required
Competent in Microsoft Office, at least intermediate MS Excel required
Knowledge in SAP /Concur is a plus
Previous Insurance Broking or Underwriting Agency experience is a plus
