ABOUT THE ROLE
First Circle is deeply committed to driving productive economic growth in the world's most exciting markets in SE Asia. We use intuitive product design and advanced data analytics to provide trade credit to un- and under-banked SMEs in the Philippines.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team, reporting directly to our Finance Manager. This position will involve Financial Reporting, Taxes, and heavy use of our Finance System.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Financial Reporting and Controls
Managing all aspects of monthly and annual accounting and reporting of all entities in multiple countries and currencies, including consolidation and meeting tight deadlines
Balance sheet reconciliation and monthly reconciliation of all accounts
Maintaining audit documentation and coordinating with auditor for annual and quarterly audits, and ensure that they are submitted to local authorities on time.
Month-end - various reconciliations, journal entries, and inter company reporting in the month-end close process.
Bank reconciliations - helping ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly. Transactions which have not been recorded correctly will require adjustment and the appropriate treatment posted in SAP.
Identification of weaknesses in the business processes and improving these.
2) Taxes & Compliance
Managing all BIR return preparation and other regulatory and statutory reports and electronic submission.
Preparing tax audit requirements including liaising with BIR
Ensuring annual compliance is up to date across the group
Dealing with company secretary, and external business partners.
Complete and revise, as needed compliance policies and to ensure that they remain relevant and up to date
3) Finance System Maintenance
Oversee user and license provisioning across the company
Ensure correct FX rates are loaded in on a monthly basis
Maintain Chart of Accounts & Cost Centers
Update and maintain system process notes and documentation
Troubleshoot systems issues as necessary and escalate items appropriately
THINGS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Degree in finance or other relevant area, and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
5+ year's working experience
Strong grasp of accounting standards
Ability to multi-task and prioritise with minimum supervision with a focus on outcomes.
Must be knowledgeable with rules and regulations of BIR
Experience in handling BIR, SEC and related compliance.
SAP experience advantageous
Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Understanding of legal requirements for financial institutions
High level of integrity
Knowledge of various investment types (equity, debt, levered, unlevered)
Understands industry best practice
Experience working with the consolidation of multi-geographic entities, especially in a high growth, rapidly changing environment.
Proven experience in improving and/or implementing processes and operational ways of working.
