Job Purpose:
To conduct technical services activities including but not limited to product development, process and productivity improvement through process design modifications, cost reduction measures and maintenance of technical documentation related to product development activities.
Job Description:
- Manage technical project execution and business alignment with minimal supervision from inception until successful production start-up/commercialization.
- Responsible in identifying and exploring new technologies to support product innovation.
- Apply knowledge of plant equipment, plant processes and facilities in process design/development. Coordinate with Production and Engineering in establishing process design.
- Responsible for product development towards best manufacturing practices and highest efficiency in close cooperation with operations.
- Perform bench-scale tests and pilot plant test to generate product prototypes as well as generate data on product specifications and process parameters. Run production tests in the production floor as required.
- Interpret tests results and independently identify and execute next steps.
- Conduct and facilitate sensory evaluation and shelf life studies.
- Act as R&D representative for assigned projects; responsible for interfacing with other departments to accomplish project objectives on time including Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Packaging Development, Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Operations and Finance.
- Handle multiple assignments simultaneously, including product innovation and adaptation, productivity/Quality/Profit Improvement initiatives.
- Support raw material procurement strategies by assessing new sources of ingredients for acceptability. Evaluate supplier conformance to Halal and other required certifications prior to approval.
- Encodes project raw data and conducts appropriate statistical analysis for finalization of product specification and process parameters.
- Provide product information required for packaging development
- Prepare preliminary costing of tested product formulations as well as coordinated with Operations IE to determine cost implications of process improvement initiatives
- Participate in supplier audits together with QA and Purchasing Departments
Qualifications:
- College Graduate
- Bachelor of Science in Food Science or Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology or related courses.
- With at least 1 year of relevant experience, but fresh graduates are welcome to apply as long as he/she has a solid technical background on food processing and ingredient technology.
- Basic and advance knowledge on food and food production systems, food safety, HACCP, GMP, SSOP, QA/QC in the food industry.
