Responsibilities
Calculate QS, XOL, and FAC ceded premium and ceded claims based on gross data and information from reinsurance contracts
Prepare and consolidate quarterly GAAP and STAT Reports (Schedule F) for Financial Reporting
Reconcile non-financial premium and claims data
Reconcile ceded premium and ceded claims data to the General Ledger
Update the Ceded Data Mart with reinsurance contracts as needed
Document ceded reinsurance accounting procedures
Work with IT to automate ceded deliverables
Other projects and/or tasks as assigned
Qualifications
The ability to read and understand reinsurance contracts
Experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry
Financial reporting experience within a SOX and SEC regulated environment
Required Skills/Experience
Strong attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management skills
The ability to communicate effectively with individuals
Strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative to work without supervision
Technical knowledge of reinsurance terms, contracts, and cash settlement practices
Ability to use initiative and self-manage to resolve issues independently
Strong computer skills, in particular, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, primarily Excel
Ability to grasp new concepts, systems and applications quickly and efficiently
Candidates need to be flexible with their schedule since shift may change depending on the needs of the team.
Extra time may be required during quarter close and financial reporting close.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
