Job Description
As a Telecom Vendor Project Manager working with Astreya, you will be a member of our client's ENterprise Connectivity Planning team. You will plan, facilitate, and manage the deployment of new telecommunication services purchased from third-party suppliers and vendors. You will work closely with the technical negotiation team to understand the terms of new contracts and arrangements including delivery targets and technical requirements. Telecom vendor project managers also work closely with internal project management teams to communicate target completion dates and ensure that all internal requirements are being met in a timely manner. You will direct and manage vendors during installation of services and ensure that all services meet contracted technical specifications, services are delivered correctly and on schedule, and facilitate communications between all relevant stakeholders both internal and external
Scope:
Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
Your Roles and Responsibilities:
Evaluate bandwidth requirements with the Client network Technical Project Managers and Engineering teams based on office type and type of users
Occasionally, work with the global network organization to find best solution, potential vendor relationships
Negotiate with vendors for lowest pricing and best solution for primary and secondary circuits
Analyze circuit/link diversity at different levels
Create a business case/justification for deals/orders that reflects financial and business values
Provide life cycle management of circuits after end of contract term, renegotiating circuit pricing, sending out RFIs to vendors
Project manage the acquisition and delivery of circuits, may involve leading meetings with network deployment engineers, TPMs, and global network acquisition resources
Create strategies for the region assigned in regards to the corporate WAN with network engineering and global network acquisition resources
Work with Network Deployment teams to understand current and future builds to find best solution and understand routing upstream to avoid Single Points Of Failures
Develop or update internal/cross-functional processes
Track milestones and proactively drive any activities that may jeopardize orders from completing on time
Provide thorough and timely status throughout the entire implementation life cycle in the order tracking system; including communicating vendor provisioning/install lead times
Document service requests, escalate as needed, and provided timely and accurate updates
Arrange remote hands support as needed
Required Qualifications/Skills:
bachelor's degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 8+ years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 3-5 years of experience working as a circuit provisioner/project manager for a telecom carrier and/or ISP.
Experience with various carrier products and services in an operational, engineering or implementation role.
Familiarity with data, T1's, DS3, OC3, Ethernet and other similar technology.
Familiarity with IP Transit/Peering, Dark Fiber, Wavelengths and peering x-connects.
Proficiency in interpreting kml/kmz files using Google Earth or Google Mymaps desirable
Excellent organization and communication (verbal, written, documentation)
Ability to work on multiple projects and assignments concurrently
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Self-starter who is able to quickly learn new tools and gain familiarity with new processes and technologies with minimal assistance
In-depth experience creating spreadsheets, presentation material, and project/process documentation
Strong observational and analytical skills, including: ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information, strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to track and report metrics, and manage risks
Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders and communicate project updates to client executives.
Project management certification a plus (PMP, PRINCE2)
Physical Demand & Work Environment:
Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
Must be able to use a computer
Must have the ability to communicate effectively
