I. Job Purpose
To provide efficient support to the Manager, Project Management in planning, organizing, and controlling assigned aspects of a project, including monitoring manpower, schedules, and budgets; evaluating project productivity and quality; and directing the complete technical operations of the project.
II. Key Outputs
Defines the work scope and prepares overall schedules and budgets on assigned projects. Update schedules and implement corrections or adjustments when necessary;
Ensures that the assigned projects meet the committed project schedules;
Assists in developing cost estimates for additional work or contract modifications;
Reviews conversation reports to ensure consistency with contractual requirements;
Prepares progress reports, collates applicable correspondences, and shares these to the appropriate project members;
Ensures that all manhour control is being implemented properly;
Identifies and documents Engineering Change Notices (ECN's); ensures that these are being processed in a timely fashion;
Maintains a filing system for all technical information associated with the project;
Prepares logic diagrams and bar charts for scheduling engineering activities;
Evaluates manpower expenditures and implement corrective actions or adjustments when necessary;
Updates, informs, and clarifies project outcomes, deliverables, potential problems and project needs;
May review project documents (drawings, reports, etc.) for consistency with work scope, and adequately addresses input from disciplines;
Builds effective working relationships with the client and project personnel;
Plans and identifies upcoming tasks, potential problem areas, technical information staffing priorities; and identify solutions where necessary;
Performs other functions that may be assigned by the immediate superior.
III. Minimum Qualifications
1. Education and Registration:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BS Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical or equivalent); Registration as a licensed professional engineer is preferred;
2. Experience:
Has at least ten (10) years of experience gained from petrochemical, petroleum, chemical, pharmaceuticals, food, or related industries; exposure to an EPC set-up and operations is an advantage; such experiences must be related to the engineering project cycle from Front End Engineering Design to detailed design.
3. Competencies
Overall understanding of technical disciplines and project execution;
Knowledgeable in all aspects of project controls (cost reporting, scheduling, etc.)
Excellent familiarity with the engineering project cycle - from FEED to detailed design.
Ability to direct and control a phase of a project, guided by precedent and within the limits of established policies.
Research skills, analytical and creative problem-solving skills, questioning and feedback skills, project and time management skills.
Ability to clearly communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing;
Ability to independently organize and prioritize work assignments; coordinate a variety of tasks with good attention to details; ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines;
With commitment to quality, responsibility, high work standards and initiatives;
Ability to appropriately manage confidential information.
All qualified candidates shall be assessed for both Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager positions.
