BUSINESS SUMMARY
ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) was originally established in 1996 as SNN, the Sarimanok News Network. SNN was the brainchild of the late Eugenio "Geny" Lopez Jr. who envisioned a TV station that would become the Filipinos' primary source of news and information. Geny believed that with SNN, he was bridging geographical gaps separating Filipinos or in his own words "building bridges on the air."
SNN began airing on SKY Cable Channel 21 on May 1, 1996. Back then the channel served viewers the top stories of the day via two major newscasts - Dateline Philippines and Primetime News while short news advisories aired throughout the day.
To enhance its resources and strengthen its position as THE news channel for Filipinos, SNN in 1998 joined forces with SKY Cable News, another Lopez-owned channel that specialized in business news reporting. The merger of the two stations paved the way for the formation of the Philippines' first, 24/7 news and current affairs channel offering the latest in domestic and international news, business information, sports and weather updates and lifestyle features. In 1999 the station changed its name to ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel.
Today ANC has firmly established its identity as an accurate and unbiased source of information and the go-to station for breaking news, wall-to-wall live news coverage and analysis with context.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Producer is in charge of the overall TV content and TV production of the assigned program. They, in coordination with the Executive Producer, manages all the resources of the program to create quality output.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Works closely with the EP in setting out the editorial direction of the assigned program, assessing the content and mapping out daily and long term plans to improve overall TV content / TV production of the assigned program.
In the Absence of Executive Producer, he/she spearheads the pre-production meeting with the entire team and the program / segment host/s to discuss the topic line-up and cascade relevant information about the program.
Ensures the smooth overall on-air operations of the assigned program/s.
Screens, evaluates, edits, and finalizes the scripts submitted by AP/SP based on program concept, branding and equity, and in accordance with production, broadcast and ethical standards; Also writes stories for assigned program when necessary
Previews and approves the edited and mastered audio and video package prior to broadcast to ensure that all materials are fit for airing based on the established quality, standards, procedures as well as INCA's Code of Ethics.
Makes sure that each member of the team submits required output on time; meets regularly with the staff and makes sure that program hosts and production team are informed of developments in news and current events, and in the organization.
Leads the post-production of the assigned program/s together with the Executive Producer, highlights the best practices and takes note of areas of improvement.
Coordinates with the different stakeholders such as the different units of Sales, Marketing, CCM, NSTM, TOD for any program requirement and make a good and sound recommendation for the improvement of the existing workflow for improved output.
Works with the News Production Head, the Management in the Business side, financial recovery & monetization aspect of the program/s
Works with the News Production Head in efficiently allocating and managing the overall resources of the program/s as well as the channel (budget, equipment, personnel) to ensure that production requirements and deadlines are meant.
Directly report updates of the program/s to the News Production Head; attends meetings called by the News Production Head, and Management.
Performs other duties as necessary.
